People are obviously desperate and also gullible to think they will make it though customs. Normally if you are guilty of something for some reason they can pick you out. I was pulled in for a bag check a few years ago and had to pay in some money for having too many perfumes which were my families shopping lists. I said they were 2 for the price of 1 on a special so the fine was minimal as they work on cost with the taxes.

a lot of people think they can play it cool but only psychos are actually able to do that. There is a ton of psychology behind the way that people will act when they are up to something and the people whose job it is to detect this are very good at it. The best mules would probably be people that don't actually know they are carrying anything.
