<center><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TEPnFeJ.png"/></center> This is my Leodex wallet and it is quite a sad state of affairs if you ask me as the value is dropping continuously. This is with all the staking that I am doing daily so this tells me many in the community are not taking the tribes they post in seriously. <center><img src="https://i.imgur.com/bN4DJwf.png"/></center> At the beginning of last year I invested into @empoderat's #SEED token and if that wasn't done the value would be at least half this by now. How sad is that for literally 3 years of staking and literally no value to show for that effort. You do start to wonder how much dumping is going on as there is no other reason for the values dropping at regular intervals. I personally do think if you are a posting via a tribal front end or even using their tags at least show some respect and gratitude for the tokens you are earning. The various communities are important to the Hive eco system so instead of selling them out giving them no chance to succeed the opposite should be taking place. Maybe I think differently to most but believe you should be thankful for any token you receive as rewards. One just has to look at the tribes today who are reflecting in red and shows a sorry state of affairs. <center><img src="https://i.imgur.com/NpiwQC6.png"/></center> <center><img src="https://i.imgur.com/7J0fauw.png"/></center> <center><img src="https://i.imgur.com/AKWTTIn.png"/></center> These are big knocks to some of the communities and can remember these used to be valued at a much higher price. My mind tells me you have to be really desperate to sell and also tells me you would also sell out anybody in the process. If you are earning and dumping maybe you don't deserve the tokens in the first place. Where will the tribes be in 6 months from now at this rate of selling? I don't need to earn a token to be part of a tribe as it is more about being part of that community. The token is secondary and not why I am there and think many are not thinking when there is no value how many will remain? Will you want to use a community front end if there are zero rewards on offer as that is where many tribes are heading? Maybe I am a fool for holding on and staking, but the tribe holds more value than maybe a few cents in rewards per day. The milking is killing the tribes and this has to end before it is too late. Fast forward two or three years and the community is killing them and all down to greed. It is not even greed anymore as how desperate are you to sell something that already ahs very little value? Is it even worth the effort selling your no value tokens which you and the others have ruined. This reminds me of a true story where a village in Africa bought hundreds of rabbits to breed. The problem is they ate the rabbits faster than they bred and had no rabbits left. This is what we are doing to a majority of the tokenized communities and how can they survive? I still see quite a bit of tag farming going on. That is going to decrease the value as well. Communities need to be more vigilant about that sort of thing. It seems it is pretty universal that people are going to dump the first chance they get. I have a couple projects that didn't work out for me at all due to people's greed. I agree they could all have been self sustaining if not chopped off at the knees by those who are supposedly here for the community. Sadly I've invested in a few tokens and it doesn't end well for me in the long run. I do post and use the tags, to stake the tokens for the future but one of the annoying things is that everyone just sells whatever comes into their wallets. It's hard to police it all though, I know that with the community I own and is doing pretty well, the Rant community, someone offered to tokenize it but I said no, I don't need the added annoyance and headache of a shitcoin that's got no real value or purpose. We just keep going around in circles... --- ### Why does HIVE have value? Because HIVE allows you to transact on a decentralised network. You need the token for resource credits to use all of the cool dApps built here. So people are always buying it. Everyone gets this. Add the way emissions and burns work thanks to account creations and HBD and HIVE already has a nice supply/demand balance. --- ### Why does Hive's layer-2 tokens have value? But nobody gets why Hive's layer-2 tokens like LEO, have (or don't have!) value? You DON'T need a layer 2 token for RCs. You DON'T need a layer 2 token to be able to have your content displayed on a community front-end. There are just not enough reasons to buy a layer-2 token. When you consider that the majority have crazy distribution and emissions that keep printing like crazy, the supply is just always going to outstrip demand. Yep, meaning they're going to all but zero. --- ### Is there a way to stop layer-2 tokens from going to zero? The only way to stop your favourite community token going to zero is for the tribe owner to generate revenue. Your community is not decentralised and censorship-resistant. Censorship-resistance is the domain of the blockchain, not the front-ends. Front-ends are nothing more than private businesses who can choose to print their token, ban you, do whatever they want. And that's okay because you will always have your followers and data on your Hive account that you are free to plug into a community front-end that you vibe with. So getting back to stopping layer-2 tokens from going to zero, it's up to these tribe owners to generate revenue and reach a supply/demand equilibrium. The easiest way to do this on a blogging front-end is to monetise the endless content you are literally paying the community to pump out. [Yes, content has value](https://leofinance.io/threads/@forexbrokr/re-leothreads-6zjxtm) IF you use your front-end to monetise it. Money that can then be used to buy/burn your token in order to manage its sustainability. But if you're using your token to pay for content... but not monetising that content... WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO PRICE?! --- ### Call to action if you want your community token to retain value Instead of complaining about people dumping, start pestering your community leader about what they are doing to reach a supply/demand equilibrium. **If they are running ads on their front-end, ask what are they doing with the revenue and why isn't it being used to buy/burn the token?** (This here for LEO β¬οΈ) If not ads, then what else is your tribe leader doing to reach a supply/demand equilibrium in the token that they for some reason keep paying to people publishing WORTHLESS CONTENT. There are so many innovative ways in crypto to generate revenue - Just look at the way the MTB has changed CUB. But everything hinges on the 1 tribe leader ensuring their Hive layer-2 token's tokenomics are sustainable. So pester them! Not sure how can the sellers milk a tribe with the current prices of most tokens. If people don't see any value anymore in holding the token, they will sell it. Let them sell as they want. Sooner or later, the price will be reflected in a project that continues to develop and provides value. Imagine a token from a market price of 2 HIVE 6 months ago down to just 0.0015 HIVE, that to me is an opportunity to accumulate. Look at it in another way. If the communities had value people would not sell but stake. It is the same in the stockmarket. People say this is a great company but the price keep gowing down! Market doesn't care, price can go to zero. Sentiment has to shift.
