Hello everyone

Having your own piece of Utopia with your own monetary system and government in paradise. that is what the crypto coin is offering and when they do the ICO that is where the funds are going. the plan is to have masses of floating islands which will be self governed and use only the crypto currency VAR.
The startups Blue Frontier and Seasteading have been looking at the Polynesian Island area for starters. Sounds a bit far fetched as i have my doubts. Has anyone tested a floating island in a hurricane or another type of storm?
There are other concerns. Could you imagine Island Steemit with the bunch we have. The arguments that will happen with self governance and the fights that will break out. Here on Steemit we don't know the people we are dealing with personally. Some are pleasant and decent but the others are all out for self gain raping the reward pool at every turn. The island would be split with total distrust and no hard fork or Beta will be able to help you as you would be living it.
If I could choose who would be on my island then yes, but that won't ever happen. I can't see this project taking off but who am I to say. Good luck and hope it works.

Aren't we all dreaming of such a place and wouldn't it be wonderful, but yes, as you say I can't see myself trusting that idea in a hurricane and or myself with people that take advantage without my inner psychopath coming out hey @tarazkp ?

I think the very concept of Utopia falls down as to support the flourishing of one is to restrict that of another which could never be a Utopia. Same thing happens here when people's ideas of what is useful or harmful for the system are polar opposites. 

But, one thing about living on an island where people's faces are known is that social responsibility increases because consequence of anti-social behaviour is much higher.

Exactly. Fix what is wrong where it is wrong. Running away to have more will create more that does not have and somewhere along the line those who don't have and don't know how to obtain ends up going after who has. 

The solution is to work harder at fixing the shortages where they are now and getting leaders into play that will take that serious. 

I like responsibility and consequence, it does make a difference being able to aim the spotlight.
