Help Me Get the Facebook Page Steeming!

# WHAT KIND OF CONTENT WILL I BE POSTING ON FACEBOOK?

We can't deny how much traffic we can get from Facebook. Yes, we may secretly wish it to go of the dodo bird BUT at this point, we need all the weapons we can get to reach people.

I short I will post the content with the highest likelihood of engagement.

Which brings in an interesting question: **what makes content go viral?**
What makes people say: **"I want to share that!"** ?

### FROM MY EXPERIENCE, IT'S ALL ABOUT ONE  THING: STATUS

People share what they identify with and what they want their peers to identify them with. Would it be UFO, conspiracy theories, politics, demonstration of heroic action(this is #1), funny, witty, cat and dog lovers, etc.

Also, it's important for Steemit to be as neutral as possible, so I am going to stay away from controversial topics such has politics. Whatever we post, this is what people are going to associate with our brand.

# You Can Help Steemit's Facebook Page by...

**Posting a lot more content and curate it in the funny and cool tag for example.** These topics are non-controversial and very shareable. More shares means more clicks and fans for free.

I will do an effort myself to spend more time under those tags to bootstrap this effort.

I think funny posts will do well...  we should also lay off the cryptocurrency stuff, my facebook feed is crowded with it and we should try to reach a different audience than the one we already have here lol

Awesome to see @cryptoctopus :)

And I agree this makes for a good inflection point to start focusing on some more general purpose tags, especially in light of [this writeup](https://steemit.com/steem/@benjojo/basic-analysis-of-top-100-posts-in-trending) showing how much things skew toward #steem right now. That's a hump we'll need to get over before we see some major growth.

I posted [this Reddit strategy](https://steemit.com/steem/@steemrollin/steemit-how-reddit-backlinks-affect-seo#@proggr/re-steemrollin-steemit-how-reddit-backlinks-affect-seo-20160525t211331624z) the other day hoping we could start focusing on building up specific topics and then sharing them with the subs on Reddit that makes sense for them. If the ball is already rolling on a FB strategy, I wonder if it would be worth adapting the Reddit strategy and coming up with weekly content buildup sprints that coincide with your FB work. One week focus on #funny, another week on #technology ,etc. As those tags develop activity the process *should* become less orchestrated over time and can just be curating content from an active tag, but early on I agree we'll want to actively pick our marks and push hard for them.

Sounds like a plan to me :P

I'm going to be a bit swamped with some work projects I'm rolling out over the next couple weeks but I'll try to keep an eye on what might fit well with Reddit and follow along with your FB adventures to see if we can focus on the same topics and then jump in harder when my head's above water again lol
