I like the way you think. Set yourself apart in a unique way. 

I think if you're just writing blog posts, even if they are excellently written, it's a greater challenge to add value because in that arena value is a bit more subjective.

What I mean is value can be influenced by interest. If I'm not interested in a topic, it has less perceived value for me than a topic  I'm interested in. Even if it's an awesomely excellent article that those interested eat up every word.

Good thing to remember when we get discouraged. You can't please everyone nor should you try.

thanks for the part2 @cryptoctopus, these type of articles really gives lot's of encouragement to minnows and they starting to believe that they can do it.

I read part I with interest, I liked your arguments.

 At the second part I appreciate your advice very much "(...) always try to mix your personal story with what you are trying to communicate" and you are right, we have to come up with something unique, we have to differentiate ourselves from others by our own style, by the life story, by originality. Otherwise we will remain anonymous.

It's very hard to make yourself known, especially if you are at the beginning and you don't have a niche.

Im very much interested in curie(streemian) but i see that it asks for the users active key. Would you mind explaining please on why it requires active key. 
If it were posting key, wouldnt be much of a deal, sort of.

Also i see the note in streemian that its still under development and possibly might run into some sort of issues. Whats the guarantee that the active key wouldnt be manipulated by hackers or...as we are sharing it in a platform outside of steemit.

I wish there were more people like you who would keep all the advice simple yet straight to the point . But hey, not everyones you and thats what separates the best from the rest. I have experience marketing and a page related to Thailand travel with 96000 + users. I have a plan to bring them over once the communities feature is implemented. I have not really thought about crowd sourcing but that could really make some of the marketing content get thousands of views combined with he current user base on my page. yeah i follow these people too its always a great way to learn from these great people on steemit and how we should build a great community.

And that's true every author would love to see some value from its readers too for his content this is not like other social media platform where we can just spam the things :)

I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs of Steemit.  At first, I was intrigued by the currency part of it, but I am now more interested in seeing good content posts about different cultures (mostly food!) and traveling since I don't have the income or availability to travel to long distance places.  Platform like this for me a great experience because there are unlimited amounts of information that content creators not only voluntarily post, but also get rewarded for it.

Personally, I have been kind of using this as just a personal blog/diary, and am not really concerned as much about votes right now.  Yes, the money would be great, but at such a small amount, I'd rather just focus on learning new things.

I'm brand new here @cryptoctopus and I appreciate it when you and others that have been around share info like this. It helps me understand how to succeed here on Steemit. I'm definitely not a dev or a designer but I have a bit of skill in marketing so I think I'll work in that direction.

I am appreciative of the people who have done curation projects and work to form communities around interests.  Without those Steemit would be at least twice as hard to navigate and to thrive in.  THANK YOU PROJECT PEOPLE !!

I've never considered learning to write code here but it's something I think I need to consider. So many times I wished I'd studied computer science instead of mechanical engineering in college. I have bits and pieces of programming experience mostly with control systems in machinery (mechatroncis and industrial robots) and i also used MATLAB some in college. I can imagine this will be a lot different. 

I can most always learn something it if I put enough time into it so I think I will start to learn how to code here. Thanks for the idea! 

I've made pretty good money my first month here but it's always good to diversify.

The most important point to me is that to get results you need to add value to the platform. In most areas of life I've noticed that often people don't try that hard. By putting in just a little bit of extra time, and by learning from people who are already successful it is easy to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is certainly an eye opener. I would check out part 1 now and look out for part 3. My key take away is to be different and consistent. Thanks for this post

I'm still thinking about a project but I have not yet hit on anything that I'm passionate about enough to pursue and that will at the same time transfer over to something useful to users on Steemit. I know that I have several interesting stories to tell so blogging will very likely be in my future, but with few followers it seems like a bit of a waste right now. So I'm going to concentrate on building relationships and getting to know people from around the world. I also have a lot to learn if I'm going to be useful on Steemit, I need to learn the basics of photo and video editing for sure. It is weird because it seems like only yesterday I was one of the few people that I knew who had a home computer (My Apple IIc) and I was on the leading edge of technology. Now I've become an aging man who has fallen way behind and I'm playing catch up for the first time in my life lol. I have to say that it is very exciting though, I have not had a full nights sleep since I became active on Steemit, I went to bed last night after 1:00 AM and was back at my computer at the break of day. Okay, it's on to part 3!

This is so valuable...  Even after being here for almost 3 months, this is still such good information to have!! Im so glad I was able to hop on and catch part 2!! Cant wait for part 3 now. Man I get so excited sometimes when I think of the endless possibilities of what can be accomplished on here!!! It makes me wanna get off my ass on my days off work and downtime and go do awesome stuff to try and capture **that** shot, the one ya know 😄

In the meantime, I'm calling people from the FB and Golos on Steemit, and many have already registered. And besides, my friends in real life, I also persuade to register for Steemit:)

I think you are missing an important one. Not everyone has to have an outstanding talent in a specific area of expertise. The thing we need is to have less bloggers and more people interacting on other's posts. Steemit is really advertised as this "create your content and get paid for it" but it needs to balance itself more. Cause ultimately, there should be less creators than participators.
