<p>From the moment I placed my first step on Steemit, I have been watching people to beg for the upvotes, followers and resteems. Most of the people comments unnecessarily just to get upvotes, rather than giving their genuine opinion or advice. Now, the latest trend is -- Free Giveaways. I am not talking about some genuine talent contest or minnows support contest by @jphenderson and @patelincho or upvotable giveaways by @jerrybanfield or some talent hunt contest by numerous people on steemit. I am talking about non sense giveaways like ''Write some number in comment box and win 5 SBD reward'', ''Who resteem this post first will receive 5 SBD giveaway''.&nbsp;</p>
<p><em><strong>I mean come on people, are these giveaways even genuine? Are they worth your precious time? Don't you have any &nbsp;talent which you want people to see? Don't you have any self-respect remained in you to even participate in these giveaways?</strong></em></p>
<p>If you didn't have anything to begin with on your blog, now decide to create something good, something of value, something to help this community to work with, something which people respects, something which can give you pride, something you love. Instead of participating in non-sense giveaways, utilize your time on yourself. Invest your time in your skills. Time is limited, as you all know very well, so Why waste it on useless activities?</p>
<p>Free money will not get you anywhere. It is not worth your time. Free money is an illusion but the money you'll earn with your skills or talent, will be permanent. If you spend it, you can again make it with ease because then you would have some talent to work with. You must have heard this quote many times over in your life ''There ain't anything like free lunch in this world''. Everything is paid. Even with free money you're paying your time, your self-respect, your energy.&nbsp;</p>

You have to work to earn free money which is actually temporary. Use your time wisely. Invest it on your skills. Invest it on your blog on steemit. Make your blog worthy to read. Make your blog worthy &nbsp;for people's attention. Make your blog so popular, by doing hard work and creating something extra-ordinary, that people will come to your blog and reward you for your work. That's what the success is. Steemit is not a overnight success scheme. It's just like other full time work, which requires hard work, which requires talent, which requires dedication, which requires creativity, sometimes politics but here we are, earning money with our hard work. And this money is permanent because you can always make it again and again and again because now you have skills and talent.&nbsp;</p>
<p>WHALES are dominating this platform because they have done hard work, either on their personal life from where they earned money and invested it on Steem Power or they have worked hard on other social media platform and then brought their presence here. That's why they are on top. But you can also reach on the top.&nbsp;</p>
<p><em><strong>Just be true to yourself. Invest time on your blog, in your skills, so some hard work and then only you could achieve real success. Non-sense giveaways are not the way to success, never run behind them.</strong></em></p>

Nice post, one which confirms some of the concerns I have had surrounding these "giveaways" and so on. I think you are correct, if people spend time honestly producing some of their own quality content as opposed to investing that time in ropey "get $$$ quick" posts then they would only progress themselves up the steemit ladder. good advice, they can be a distraction... and many I zoned out on them b/c of so many rules... I've done a few contest with people in higher reps, like 50s, but yes, mostly just focus on your own content/vision and meeting new people and interacting with people you follow or those who reply to your posts (-:

Sometimes these *free daily* giveaways is more like gambling your hard earned SP. Rarely do you win too often you waste ~~spend~~ your daily limit of an upvote. I stopped participating in these daily upvoting giveaways.  It's better to win contest as you said. Winning contest also means you win more because of all the upvotes you get from posting and responding to comments. :) great reminder of that!

This givveaways are same like follow for follow. I want also to pint over people who demand upvote and resteem in order to join contest . In my opinion is tottaly unfeair rule and i will never join any of this challenges .

Of course sir, these should be flagged as soon as possible. These types of contests only solicit people and waste their time and instead of these mean contests, one should provide something valuable on his own blog so that people come and get the value from there and leave a reward for them in return :)
This is a healthy way to become successful or at least valuable for the society.
