Dear Diary: Why I Wanted But Cannot Get A Three Times Per Week Dialysis

I went home today after a good dialysis although the blood pump isn't as fast as it could be set because my blood really is just not cooperating as it always goes low during near the session ends so sometimes I do not finish my dialysis plus they set the dialysis machine up to raise my blood pressure again while adding volume again to my blood with some saline solution thus making me thirsty in the process. So things get ugly when my blood pressure starts to act up.

Although I finished my dialysis today I went home lighter for a change and it does great things to my well-being because it makes me breathe easier without much water in my body because with a waterlogged body I get so breathless that it makes me feel that I am drowning even though I am just eating much less drinking water. So I do not like being thirsty after dialysis because the thirst lingers until I drink much water.

If all goes well with my budget I will just have a three times per week dialysis session for two reasons. One is to make me tolerate more the nasty appetite-disturbing effects of my parathyroid medicine because I realized that it does affects my health greatly with a less than optimal appetite for food and it makes get a hard time adding some weight if I still have that possibility of gaining weight.

The second reason for me thinking of a three times per week dialysis is to make me have a good allowance for drinking fluids so that I won't get so breathless and ill-feeling between dialysis sessions like is what is happening currently. But right now I cannot make that plan a possibility yet because of consideration to my father's time and it might affect his health as well if we go to the center more frequently and also it is quite so expensive for an added dialysis session and I have to prioritize my parathyroid. It is a dilemma and my hands are tied right now, that is what I am thinking.

In our country, most of the people with ESRD (end stage renal disease) are taking dialysis 3 times a weeks. By this way, body is getting rid of waste product more effectively.

It's note worthy that you are considering the health of others as well. They too need respite. I worked with an individual here in Israel from the Ukraine. He did have dialysis three times per week. But he was elderly. I don't know if an advancing age has anything to do with how many times a person goes for dialysis.
