Using Steem to archive information? What blockchain or decentralised tool would be more appropriate?

I was trying to reach some information a few minutes ago that I had saved in a bookmark on my browser. However, I noticed that the website is dead and that Google has a cached version of it. I imagine that Google will not hold it forever if it doesn't get many views, but the information is valuable.

I would like to find a way to archive information like that. The normal way is through organisational websites like archive.is and archive.org, but they are centralised storages and are at risk of server manipulation and all the other downsides that made people turn to blockchain (such as our case in Steem).

Some of the cons I imagine of using such services are the risk of government manipulation of data, censorship, removal of data due to corporate or individual interests, etc. (and also the enforcement of subjective rules that might limit the amount of information that can be stored). However, there is also risk in blockchain archiving, such as the permanent storage of illegal content (that this risk also exists on Steem to a certain degree).

On Steem, we reward originality and discourage copying and pasting. This stops us from storing information that may be lost forever if a centralised organisation decided to remove it from its current place.

<h3>I wonder, then, is there an alternative to Steem for this? And if there isn't, is an alternative being built? And if there isn't, could we push for it? If I had the means, I'd certainly invest in such a piece of technology, and I'm sure that many would as well.</h3>

A note on ethics: Regarding the possibility of such technology being misused, if a tool has the potential of being mostly used for good, it would be shallow not to create it in view of the evils it will allow. Encryption is one of these things, the internet is another. We could discuss the pros and cons, but unless the cons are the vast majority of the aspects, I would not waver in my support for it.

I'm anonymous on blockchain technologies. I never share my name or anything identifiable for this reason. I don't share pictures of myself. I only share ideas and articles. I think it's the best way to ensure that if I someday regret my decisions, nobody will know who CryptoSharon was. It's a way of enforcing my own right to be forgotten.

I think this should be pointed out to people. There are some who don't care much but there are also those who would do this if they knew it is a valid option.
