Navigating Hive account as a business strategically: Theme or no Theme
It started with small stuff on Hive. Getting comments that actually meant something. Seeing my posts earn a few cents here and that gives me some rush!.

Like many of you, I just used my Hive account like a casual diary. You know, random thoughts, hoping someone might read them. But ... maybe I'm missing something bigger here. I read taskmaster said that every Hive account is a potentially business, and this notion is growing on me.  But how? Stick to a theme, or just be yourself?

Most of us post here like we're just chatting with friends. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm starting to think we're sleeping on what this could be.

Like, we have this platform where you actually own your content. No algorithm deciding who sees what. No company that can just delete everything you've made. And people will literally pay you for creating good stuff.

But we treat it like any other social media. Post random thoughts, hope for the best, don't really think about it as building anything. Hello, it can be a business, and some strategy is needed. 

What if we approach it a different way: Instead of "what should I post today?" it's more like "what can I share that might actually help someone or make them think?"

Not trying to be all business-y about it. Just being more intentional with the time I'm already spending here anyway.

Here I am talking **managing your Hive account intentionally like it has its own theme**. Some are food, some are photos, some are travel, some are stories... I think themes have value. 

But I'm also two mind about trying to stick to themes. Not being super rigid, but if someone comes to my account, what are they gonna find? What am I known for? Right now it's probably just random rambling, may be I am thinking too much. In my cryptothesis account, I have started with focusing on things crypto. Then I digressed to other things like sharing shorts on anything interesting. Someone has said that **being diverse is a better strategy than focusing on one topic as it reaches out to more people**. I don't know.. maybe in Hive this is still alright. 

I don't know. Still figuring it out. But I'm starting to see this as an actual opportunity that needs strategic manoeuvres instead of just a place to dump thoughts. Managing themes or no theme?

That's such an exciting realization about Hive! You're absolutely right - this platform gives us a unique chance to build something meaningful while just being ourselves.  

The theme vs. no-theme debate is tricky. Maybe the sweet spot is having a loose focus area (like your crypto insights) while still allowing room for spontaneous, fun posts. After all, variety keeps things fresh for both you and your audience!  

The key seems to be balancing consistency with authenticity. Keep sharing what excites you - that passion is what will make your account stand out. Whether structured or free-flowing, your unique perspective is what people will come back for.  

Keep experimenting! The beauty of Hive is we get to define our own success.

That's how ideally it should be. Let the monetary part becomes a passive outcome of this casual activity.

Exactly, no matter how trivial, we can build our identity, a legacy.......

We have niche based communities, we can further break it down to niche based thoughts themes to set the economy rolling in compartments and building brands.

I've been mulling over this very topic lately. I share the idea that our accounts can be a business; more than a business, I'd call it a personal brand, and I'm managing my account with that approach.

I do believe that a personal blog should have a certain human touch, and a person isn't just one thing, one interest. You can have several, and it's okay to explore and share them. I think in a business, this would be called humanizing the brand. 

That's why my idea (it doesn't have to be everyone's) is to primarily share my main interest, which is video game development. But on the other hand, I like to share a few other interests, such as calisthenics, soccer, motivation/reflections, etc.

Personally, I follow accounts who are (mainly) writing about finance, gaming, hive.
I don't care if there are some random posts in between, but preferably 75% or more are about these topics.

During my time on Hive my criteria have changed (a couple of times) though and I always have a hard time unfollowing people so my current list of people I follow probably won't be 100% in line with above criteria 😅
