Shelly is set to go live within the first half of this year activating Ouroboros Proof of Stake Protocol. There are two official wallets. <a href="https://www.cardano.org/en/the-daedalus-wallet/">Daedalus</a> was built by IOHK the main development arm of Cardano. 

They are currently developing interoperability for Bitcoin, ETC, are working on creating connections to older monetary technologies, and also other cryptocurrencies.

 Currently you have to download the entire blockchain to use Daedalus do they are developing an upgrade for this.

 Depending on preference Yoroi can be downloaded as a chrome extension, or a mobile phone app. Staking will also go live on Yoroi.

 Yoroi was developed by Emurgo a partner of IOHK focused on the adoption of ADA. 

To accomplish this Emurgo does R&D  that lead to the their mobile phone wallet beating Input Output Hong Kong  to market. 

Ouroboros has 4,320 daily slots. Each slot takes 20 seconds to validate transactions.

 The wallet has a spending key & and staking key. The staking key can be used to stake with a pool or you could solo stake.

Ouroboros is designed to be a protocol that is fair for any kind of stake.  Cardano was released in 2015 in Japan. 

It has been four years in the making with over 20062 commits from developers who are spread out across the world.
