My point of discussion today - "Chilli"

Chilli is a spice plant. Chili is used for every household cooking. Chilli enhances the taste of vegetables. Without the chilli, no cooking is finished.

Chili is found everywhere in the world. Pepper is cultivated throughout the year.

Chilli trees do not grow very large. Chilli trees grow to a maximum of 2 feet tall. Its leaves are elongated. Pepper trees first blossom white flowers. They are then transformed into chilies by pollinating with the help of insects. The peppers remain dark green while raw. Pepper contains red, and yellow colors when ripe.

Chili is a national dish. However, the solder of raw pepper is very beneficial to the body. Raw pepper contains a lot of vitamin C.

There are many varieties of pepper trees. Of these, Bombay is more sold in chilli.

The Chileans of America have been using Chili for almost 8000 years. This is where the Chili originated.

To cultivate pepper, you have to take good care of it. Chilli trees can not drain excess water If water is stored at the base of the chilli tree, the chilli tree dies. Fertilize regularly. Then there is good yield.

The height of the tree actually depends on the species. There are some species that grow quite high. 

I’m growing a reasonable range of chillies at the moment. Probably about 5 species at this stage.

Have to love chilies!   With our cold winters I try and keep a couple plants in containers in my plant room.  I have to keep pruning the tops as they meet the light.
