Splinterlands has a new learning ground, and it looks like more than just a fresh coat of paint. Tucked away in the Play dropdown is **"Campaign Mode,"** specifically beginning with **Book 1: Waur Medge Academy**. This is just a casual walk-through and a simple set of practice  battles. It's also an interactive tutorial presented across 11 chapters of  player-versus-environment (PvE) combat, designed to onboard **new players** (OG player will breeze through in no time) We can see an introduce and a shift in the game's core card sets through  **Foundation Cards**. Sure it's a bit cheesy but this is just the start and it will get better.

What's particularly important about Campaign Mode is precisely what  you earn as you progress Foundation Cards. These cards are the direct  replacements for the old Rebellion starter cards, designed with the  current meta in mind. As you complete each chapter of Book 1, you unlock these soulbound cards, building a complete, initial deck that is yours  to keep – they aren't temporary rentals.

Think about the immediate benefit, that these Foundation Cards are **"Ready for Ranked."** Unlike the old starter sets, which felt more like placeholders, Foundation  Cards provide a solid, viable base for beginners entering competitive  play.
