Hive Musing: "Thoughts about preserving authenticity and why genuine engagement matters."
Hmm… 🤔 Where should I start? How about a nice cover image that I created using PeakD's AI image generator?  

I bet nobody will applaud me for this kind of work, and for good reason. It takes just a minute (or less) to input a prompt—a simple combination of a few words—and only a few seconds for PeakD to generate the image, all for just a few cents of HBD. It didn’t cost much, nor did it require much effort on my part. So, there’s no real accomplishment in posting this image and claiming that I did a great job generating it. 😂

That said, I do believe this cover image plays a crucial role in highlighting the message I want to convey in this post: *We are becoming less human than we were before.* And unfortunately, the Hive platform isn’t entirely safe from bots and AI-generated content.




In fact, I recently learned from Marky’s latest post that 15% of the content on the platform was created by a single account. This was made possible with the help of AI, which is shocking because I wasn’t aware of it until I read the post. Considering the number of spam accounts posting AI-generated content, the actual activity on the blockchain is much lower than I initially thought.

I recently had a firsthand experience with this. At first, it seemed like my posts were getting more interaction, but I soon realized that many of the comments weren’t genuine. Well, maybe not all of them. The people I was interacting with were real, but they were using AI to generate comments on my posts in hopes of earning potential upvotes.  

Maybe I wasn’t paying close enough attention, because what seemed like a sincere comment wasn’t actually written by a real person—it was generated by AI.  


I realized this when Hivewatchers commented on my reply to an AI-generated comment, suggesting that I might have responded to one. After doing some further digging, I found out they were right.

This made me curious—why is there a rise in AI-generated content on the platform despite the community’s continuous efforts to prevent it? What keeps these users trying their luck here? Is it even worth their time to create accounts just to post AI-generated content in hopes of making a quick buck?


I’m not sure about the general consensus on AI-generated content outside of Hive, but I do know that on this platform, it’s not tolerated. We value content created by real humans and prefer genuine interactions. I believe many would agree with me because this is what sets Hive apart from mainstream Web2 social media platforms. And that’s something we should be proud of.



### So, what’s the best way to move forward?  


As a creator, I take pride in producing the best content possible. I’ve even gone so far as to invest in gadgets to improve the quality of my posts. This is something I see myself doing for many years to come, which is why I want to continue investing in creating valuable content—whether it’s spending time carefully thinking through my topics, putting effort into fine-tuning the photos in my posts, or investing in tools and gadgets to level up my blog and make it worthwhile for curators to notice.  

Because of this, I can’t see myself supporting those who take shortcuts by posting or commenting AI-generated content—something that takes only a few seconds and minimal effort to produce.

Last night, I started evaluating the accounts I recently interacted with and reviewing their pages to determine whether they were authentic users of the platform. I’ve already muted some that I found to be inauthentic in their actions or comments on my posts.  

My goal is to encourage genuine interactions and engagement by focusing on those who put in the effort to provide meaningful comments and contributions.

With the limited resources we have, it only makes sense to focus on people who genuinely provide quality content and meaningful engagement on the platform. These are the individuals who make Hive a better place for content creation and social interaction. Producing genuine content also makes the platform more appealing to those who prefer consuming work created and vetted by real humans, rather than content generated by software.  

I believe there is great value in creating content based on one’s observations, experiences, analysis, and personal perspective—rather than content that lacks a personal touch.

And what remains to be seen my dear friend, this itches and spreads. It is like a rotten apple in a basket of healthy apples, today it is 15% and tomorrow it is 16%. I believe that the curatorship must be sharpened.

I have noticed that there are already services on the internet that supposedly lend themselves to humanising AI-generated content, i.e. as since the beginning of computing times; he who creates the computer virus creates the counter.

For now ai can be detected, but it's a matter of time before new and better model will come out, better trained and you won't distinguish between human and Ai... Like some ai generated pictures from stable diffusion , post processed and then photoshopped, you won't say it's not real

Maybe to make their comments look lengthy and to sound good. But what is a paragraph of comment if it's from an AI... People won't find it valuable so it's not something that will gain them rewards.

A one line sincere comment may have a better chance of getting rewarded than a lengthy AI generated one 😁

I don't really know how people interact without basic knowledge of the matter, its true AI mostly know it all, but really, can they even claim that nowadays? they are saying something they really don't understand then be proud of it?

The robot thing in your comments surprised me, it was a story that seemed straight out of the dead internet theory.

Now that Mulder and Scully are back it would be fun to have them investigate all this and have their new villain be an AI.

I've gone a bit off topic, sorry, I have my own point of view, a bit contradictory really. 

All of us who have a bit of creativity are intimidated by a monster that we have fed.

For example, I who suck at drawing and like you in this post, use AI generated images in my little posts. I don't give it any credit, but the irony is that it is precisely those images that tend to get the most attention and the most comments. 

Of course, this is annoying, even if it sounds like a joke. 


To be honest, an AI is going to help me translate this text. 

The question is where it stops being a tool and becomes a hindrance.

You know it's inevitable to feel a bit like a caveman who has just discovered fire in the middle of a burning forest.

People are weird. These days they have sex bots, gaming bots, posting bots...bots for everything. I don't understand this. Sure they may earn a bit of money using bots but lose all the joy that comes by creating content. I hate seeing AI generated art/ posts. On facebook my art that takes at least a day to make gets few likes. Someone else uses AI to make ,,art''. And they post gets thousands of likes and comments. I like Hive because here my efforts are more appreciated. If AI will take over Hive I will no longer have any safe heaven left. This place is my home and I don't want some AI creators to come to my home, shit on the floor and leave.

Yes, people are weird. They are also greedy. That is for obvious reasons. In present world many conventional means of earnings are getting marginalized and compromised every day, so people are shifting focus towards alternatives.

It's a good thing that many of the community members are working against AI invasion here in Hive. While in X, people are pumped about AI agents, over here in Hive it was discouraged which for me is a good thing. Imagine if AI agents flocked into the platform and then spam us with eloquent comments which appear nice but in reality we are just engaging with a bot... That will feel sad no matter how it looks. 

So I'd rather interact with 5-10 real users instead of 100+ bots. It's meaningful that way.

There maybe other platforms that welcome it however here in Hive the preferred content are the ones created by humans.

I know for sure that other crypto projects are very excited about how AI agents are doing with their platform or projects but it's not something that aligns with what Hive is about.

I've seen some accounts whose posts are AI-generated that were called out. But what surprised me the most were the AI-generated comments. xD I mean... why even do that?

 I don't know how to check whether the person I'm communicating with uses AI or not, but when I checked those comments and posts, I could see some differences. Something just doesn't feel right when reading it... or is it just my mind playing tricks on me?
