I would hope that there are many who will make their own curation decisions without sole regard to the KE number.  We should feel free to do with our earnings as we wish without being apologetic.  

Who knows when at any given time...any one of us...may need to power down....we don't know and I would be sorry to see Hive become dependent on that particular metric for decision making.  People can bring value to Hive in other ways besides HP and do...Some have tremendous talent, others engage, etc.

Personally I appreciate privacy, anonymity here at Hive. Through this implementation of yet more billboard type declaration....it seems I have lost privacy.  Yes..I know it is available information...but now it is hung on one's neck/avatar. A little while ago, it was a bee symbol attached to one's avatar, thankfully it is able to be hidden.  

We, collectively,  are hopefully here to showcase what we have to offer....and get to know others through mutual respect for that talent, that craft, etc....not based on whether you fit a certain rigid criteria for approval.

It's one of those *"it depends"* things, really, isn't it.

There are a fair number of people on Hive — in parts of the world that experience regular economic turmoil — who substantially *depend* on some/all their Hive rewards simply to *get by* in life... will people become biased against them, simply because they can't *afford* to stake all their earnings? 

The *"slippery slope"* for me is people putting too much emphasis on the *(low)* KE as a basis for their vote/engagement choices... by extension, channeling more rewards towards those who already *have* a lot. 

Oh... *wait*... that's how the whole world works, right?

for me the Hive tokens is yours and you can do whatever you want, take in mind that if you the need the money and you have to do a power down it doesnt mean that you are not supporting anymore hive blockchain. i think that KE is good to see spammer/farming users like the splinterland players or inleo users

I like it. But I am not gonna judge if I will be upvoting someone just based on their KE score. I will also try  to check if that person is writing  and commenting often and with effort and is trying to add value that way.

well said it all depends on the individual and how personal they take this new information.

I don't really see the point in it. It favours boring bloggers that just write but it fucks over the concept of a creator on here that would want to reinvest into their craft. Whether it's artists that use art supplies and want to buy more to continue, or photographers/videographers that want to upgrade their gear.

People on YouTube constantly upgrade their gear to increase the quality of what they create even if that doesn't always lead to an increase in earnings. Here that's definitely the case, it doesn't increase anything to have a fancier camera or a better mic. Hive doesn't *actually* care for creativity or content quality. 

So all this KE stuff means is that it favours traditional blogging and not a content creation cycle. And promotes this dumb concept of punishing those that might actually be trying to either pay a few extra bills with Hive or try to upgrade their gear. Take yourself as an example, where you're using TikTok to grow and also potentially use it to increase Hive awareness through it, you'd now be considered a "leech" and likely punished for doing so if you wanted to spend some Hive earnings on a new camera.

At the same time there are people that drop thousands of Hive in a single transaction and it'll barely do anything to their KE because they either get stupid amounts of support from circles on here already. But then a smaller person that has sold an equal amount of Hive over several years and barely earns anything per post is considered the problem.

I just think we're focusing on a nonexistent problem for the most part. We should be finding ways to bridge people to Hive and keep them here, and also fix the dramatically low volume we see on exchanges due to no interest, but all this is doing is trying to limit how people use Hive and enforce the views of a select group that are already doing well. Inevitably pushing people away.

I see the KE coefficient as a reminder of the importance to stake Hive on the wallet. If an author has a need of fund and his or her KE coefficient go up above 2 you will have this number right there to let the owner strive to stake its coming rewards in order to fill the gap created.
It is not the only parameters that you should be used to make any actions, whether it is support the content or not.

So... a high KE means that you earn a lot of author rewards compare to what you stake, whereas a low KE means you are staking (and supporting) more than earning as author.
