Lately, I’ve been doing some serious thinking about how I operate on Hive. After reading some important community feedback, I’ve decided it’s time to make a few meaningful changes... and I want to take you along for the journey.

Huh? What’s this about? Well, if you missed my previous post, here’s the link to it. In that post, I discussed the changes I’ll be implementing in response to some issues that were raised in a post by one of the groups on this platform.

To summarize, the post raised concerns about my practices on Hive, particularly around HP leasing, my upvoting patterns, the game-related content I post, and a few other activities. The community post outlined much (if not most) of what I do on the platform and urged the community to decide whether my actions align with the Hive protocol and are socially acceptable within the community.

I’ve read and listened carefully to the concerns raised, and I want to address all of them, but not all at once. I prefer to take things one step at a time. This pace allows me to fully understand each issue before jumping to conclusions or implementing any rushed solutions. My goal is to approach this objectively and come up with data-driven resolutions. As I implement changes, I also intend to assess each step to monitor whether the solution is having a positive impact and moving me in a direction that the community will accept.

I believe this is the best path forward to thoughtfully address each item highlighted in the community post.

For now, I’m focusing on the HP leasing issue. As mentioned in my earlier post, I’ve planned to gradually reduce the amount of HP I’m leasing over time.



### But why the need to reduce my effective HP?

Hmm, I thought about it from the perspective that some members of the community believe my posts are over-rewarded. From what I understand, this perception is likely tied to the amount of effective HP my account currently controls. Based on my observations, holding a large amount of HP increases the likelihood of attracting the attention of other Hive users who also hold significant HP.

Although I don’t have hard data to prove this, I arrived at this line of thinking because Hive Power is essentially a measure of social influence on the platform. Users here tend to gravitate toward others who have high HP as well, likely seeing them as more influential or aligned with their own goals.

It’s human nature... we’re often drawn to people who project the same energy, vision, or presence we identify with. And on Hive, a strong indicator of one’s presence and status is the amount of Hive Power their account controls. I say “controls” because it doesn’t really matter whether that HP is owned or rented; what matters is that the account is capable of influencing reward distribution.

With that in mind, I decided to reduce the effective HP my account controls. The intention is to lessen the social influence my account has within the network. By reducing my effective HP, I’ll also have a smaller impact on the platform’s reward distribution. In essence, I’m diluting my influence... *theoretically*, this means I’ll also be earning fewer rewards, as some of my supporters may gradually reduce or stop their support now that my social and financial influence has been scaled down.




### So, what will be my basis for how much I reduce my effective HP?

I’ve decided to reduce it to **50,000 HP** over a period of three months... or possibly sooner, depending on what I observe in the coming weeks.

Now, why did I choose that specific number?

Well, it ties back to one of the main reasons I initially rented more HP in the first place. And here’s the story...

Some of you may already know about it, while others might not be aware of a token called ***Account Creation Token (ACT)***.
Huh? What’s that token, you ask?


> An Account Creation Token, or ACT, is a special “ticket” on the Hive blockchain that lets you create a new Hive account for free. Since making a new account on Hive normally requires resources, having an ACT means you can help someone join Hive without paying any extra fees. If you have ACTs, you can easily invite friends, family, or new users to the platform and set up accounts for them.



### But why bother claiming ACTs? Do they even have value?

There’s no straightforward answer to that. Some dApps on the platform offer free account creation, while others charge between **\$0.99**, **\$2.00**, or even **\$3.00**, as shown on the sign-up page of the [Hive.io website](https://hive.io). So yes, I’d say there’s definitely *some* monetary value to ACTs.

Right now, with Hive still growing, many dApps are willing to cover that cost to attract more users. But I imagine that in the future—when Hive really takes off and becomes more mainstream—most dApps might require payment for account creation.

***Who knows... maybe I’ll be able to sell the ACTs I’ve claimed and earn something from them later on. I’m just being optimistic about the possibilities.***

***But more importantly, I want to be able to invite my friends and family to the platform and help them create Hive accounts easily. Who knows? Maybe I’ll even bring in a larger community someday—and the ACTs I’m claiming now could make their onboarding process a lot smoother. Sounds fair, right?***

* **HP I’m renting from other accounts:** approximately 88,000 HP

* **Current Full Upvote Value:** 4.23 HIVE (at 92,000 HP)
