Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

It's Wednesday — or *"hump day"* as you Hoomans amusingly like to call it — and all is quiet around the house. The Mom-Hooman has gone camping with a friend for a couple of days, and the Dad-Hooman is busy doing his so-called ~~gardening~~ yardwork.

Meanwhile, I got to thinking about all the things we do to keep the Curator Cat blog going.

Of course, this whole thing started because of the statement *"Oh, look how cute the cat is!"* so much of it centers around cat photography... which is not always as easy as it might seem!

Although I would never admit it in public, I can be a bit of a Primadonna and I have a very fine talent for presenting my butt to the camera whenever somebody's trying to photograph me!

If you are a regular visitor to these pages, you only get to see the *best* of Curator Cat. And generally, you get to see an *alert* cat who's paying attention to something... which is certainly a nice *illusion!*

But what makes cat photography so challenging isn't necessarily that I turn my butt, or that we end up with a lot of so-called *"cat blur,"* but the fact that I am actually *asleep* most of the time and I really don't care to be woken up to have photographs taken of me!

Every now and then, the Hoomans show up with their cameras or their phones and they want to take pictures because *"oh look, Shadow is so cute!"* but what they mostly find is a sleeping cat in a box or on a blanket... and it's a sleeping cat who gets rather grumpy if they insist on interrupting his nap! I sleep about 18 hours a day...

Typically, the best times for photography are the 10 minutes before and after morning snack time and evening snack time. And then, of course, any opportunities to snap a photo during the *"late night cat crazies,"* although the outcome of attempting such insanity is usually a fine collection of *cat blur* images.

Most of the time, the photos you see on these pages are a combination of photos taken immediately before the post is created, along with diverse photos taken over the past couple of weeks... but that typically haven't been used before.

Confession: Sometimes we *do* recycle particularly good photos...

We have a pretty impressive photo library of cat photos by now! Quite a few of them will never see the public light of day because... *Well, I didn't approve them!!* But every now and then we get lucky and end up with a little collection that is worthy of putting on the blog.

Regardless, the Hoomans do remain pretty respectful of my need to nap and do things on my own time. Thankfully, the Curator Cat blog is not our livelihood but just something that we do for fun. And, we'll continue to do it as long as it remains fun!
