# News and announcements

- Priority:  We are going to suspend public submissions for new curators soon due to high volumes of subpar quality submissions. Please check out #curie on https://steemit.chat for more information.

- There were 300+ active curators last week - an all time high. However, the submissions were subpar and very few of the submissions made by the newly registered curators were approved. Again, submit only posts that are exceptional and meet all the guidelines (check out https://steemit.chat/channel/curie). We urge all new curators to check out the type of posts resteemed by @curie.

- There's a new tiered system for weekly submission limits. As always, curators will receive submission limits according to their performance the previous week. Now, there will be four tiers.

CS =>5, AR >85% - Unlimited submissions
CS =>2 to <5 - 10 submissions 
CS =>1 to <2 and new curators - 1-2 submissions 
CS <1 - 0 submissions

Over the last week, Project Curie curated a total of 159 posts at an average of 23 posts per day. This is 50% increase from last week, likely indicative of a growing quality in curation and content.

The Top Curators list will dynamically change every other week depending on performance. Anybody will be able to rise up the ranks with consistent, quality curation. Inconsistent, low-quality curation will result in dropping out of Top curators list(or regular curation, if under-performance continues).
