## About Steemconnect 

The Steemconnect platform is one built on the Steem blockchain that allows you a greater level of security when accessing your Steem profile. The Steem blockchain is built as a decentralized platforn and comes with a lot of benefits for users. One of these benefits are the wonderful dApps developed on the blockchain.

However, the problem here is that, with the influx of all these dApps, users can’t really be so sure of which dApp is legitimate or not. This is the problem Steemconnect has been built to solve. With Steemconnect, you can sign into any third party platforms without the fear of giving out your password or keys to these platforms.

Whenever you are no longer comfortable with the services the dApp renders, you can simply visit your Steemconnect profile and revoke its authority.

## Proposal 

The Steemconnect platform has been up and running for a while now and has helped in making users feel secure. You can simply sign into any app that has added the Steemconnect authentication page without that app having access to your master password or key. 

My suggestion here is for the QR code feature to be added to the Steemconnect log in/ authentication page. A QR feature allows users to log in with ease by simply scanning a QR image after inputting their Steem username.

I have a laptop which I use to create my articles and post to the Steem blockchain. My Steem details are also saved here. I equally have a paper print out of my master password QR code as well as my active key QR code.

With the QR code sign in feature, logging in through any third party dApps with the Steemconnect authentication page becomes an easy task. Users can simply print out their QR codes and log into any platform with just a simple scan of a barcode image.

I will be using the 1Ramp sign in/ login page as a scenario. Here, we can see the "Sign in using Steemconnect" button. When you click on it, you are directed to a page where you are to grant 1Ramp some permissions.

This screenshot shows the sign in page where you are to input your username and master password. By the right end of the password or key box, I propose that the scan QR code feature be placed here.

This screenshot shows the button I have now added. Once you click on this button, it opens the inbuilt QR code scanner. As soon as you successfully scan your master QR code image, your master password or posting key appears in hidden state and you can click on the "Sign In" button to complete the sign in process.

## Benefits of the QR code feature

- The QR code feature on Steemconnect will provide users of dApps built on Steem with an easier way to enter their active keys or master password.

- With this feature, users do not need to begin typing long passwords before they can log in.

- The QR codes can be printed and carried around in the wallet. This reduces password compromise among users.
