Life-excursion plotted as a spectrogram:
a visual depiction of the up and down,
a topograph-in-audio of chemistry
unfolding its nonlinear supremacy
o'er figments of the triumphs of material;
rebellion of the demi-devic progeny
who fancies form, rejecting the ethereal —
esteeming all-surpassing the empirical,
eschewing cause for better seen effect
in order all the better to erect
great effigies and pillories and tombs
and gem-encrusted, crystal, ersatz wombs
to bring to being new Leviathans,
new chaos-roiling dragons to assume
a strange abomination of clear lens
to watch the world-kaleidoscope — its spins,
its flares and aberrations of the light —
embracing day and fleeing crouching night:
cosmic night of plasma-pulsing vast
whose fell approach will still all things — at last:
and silent falls the wayward spectrograph.
