365 Days That Count - Day 346 - Juggling hats.. A radio gig before going back to styling. Apparently my voice sells diamonds! 💎 😅
#### I used to do a lot of radio work, it's easy money and can be really fun but I haven't done much in the last year so to get a call from my agent to say a diamond company wanted to use my voice was rather cool.

At this time of year the money was a welcomed addition too and the fact that I was starting another styling job straight after the voice over meant that my rate for the day was going to add a nice little cushion to my bank account. Historically I've been very good in the booth and knocked them out in a matter of minutes but that morning I was a little nervous knowing how rusty I'd be. The one thing I have going for me is that being an actress taught me how to take direction which is why I've always been able to make the adjustments the client has asked me to and get the job done. Although I hadn't done a radio gig in a while I knew I could still take direction, I do it on set all the time so I took a deep breath and walked in, reminding myself to be fierce! 🔥

#### The job was for a diamond company with a really cheesy script about finding a diamond to join you on your life's journey but it's not my job to write the script, it's my job to sell it.

I met the client and gave her a few different reads to choose from, she chose the one I thought was waaaay to soft and breathy but again, not my call to make so soft and breathy is what they got. It ended up being my new record when 8 minutes later we were done. Clearly I haven't lost my touch 😉 I was now very early for my next job so took the opportunity to visit our building site which has seriously taken the back seat recently. We're still waiting for heritage approval and being on set means I have very little time for anything else so I'm going to have to pick it back up in the new year once we've got the approval and I can think straight. Anyway, I ran through the few things we could get done before the end of the year with my builder before hopping back in the car and driving to the Mount Nelson to get ready for the clients to arrive from the airport. Again it was a new team so I had to make first impressions all over again which made me slightly nervous as I sat there waiting for them. I reminded myself that all I could do was my best and so far my best seemed to have been more than good enough. They arrived and it soon became apparent that they were all really nice and up for a laugh. With the kind of stressful conditions we work under, a sense of humour is a vital component to making the job bearable if not enjoyable. Seeing the collection made me and the English stylist, Alison, very nervous as apart from a rail of clothes for the little ones we were starting with, the other 6 rails were all evening wear for the prom stories we were doing for the last two days which were the focus of the whole shoot. I knew that again, I was going to be pushed further than I had before. Each job seems to ramp up the anti and force me to learn on the go having been chucked in the deep end. But I'm good at that and I'm familiar with the deep end so I was quietly confident that I would wrap my head around it soon enough and in the meantime I'd use my intuition to ensure Alison felt supported. It's all about people at the end of the day. I knew it was going to be a tough week but I was cautiously optimistic about the chance to prove myself once more.
