### The Argus Cycle Tour - the largest individually timed cycle race in the world - was due to take place on Sunday. Every year tens of thousand of cyclists descend on Cape Town to participate.

### The 109km race goes through Hout Bay and past the site of the fire wreckage. 

As all roads along the route are closed for the duration of the race there were concerns as to how it would effect the delivery of urgently needed supplies, although people were hopeful it would also lead to a surge of donations from cyclists and spectators alike.

### However on Sunday morning we woke up to news that due to gale force winds of 106km's per hour the race had been cancelled. The first time in the 40 year history of the race! 

The footage was quite incredible, I struggled to believe that a mere 20 minutes from my house the conditions had been so extreme yet we'd experienced nothing but a strong breeze - Cape Town has a unique & varied climate!

### I was however delighted and inspired to see that Pick n Pay - one of South Africa's largest supermarkets and the Argus' catering sponsor had donated all the food and drink set aside for the race to the victims of the fire.

I was already a PnP fan but their response to this fire has taken them to a whole other level in my book - they were one of the first corporates to reach the scene with supplies, they've collected hundreds of donation trolleys and continue to do so *and then this*! 

### It is so reassuring and refreshing to see a business set aside it's profit margins for a worthy and desperate cause, it sounds so normal but sadly these days it isn't.
