# Classic COD at its best 🪖

My love for Call of Duty started with the oldest games in the franchise, which were all set during the WWII era. I'm talking about the original COD, COD2, COD3, and COD WaW. Those are by far some of my best memories with this game. 

There are two newer COD games that take place during WWII, but one of them is not fun to me. I absolutely hated COD Vanguard, so don't expect to see any content about that game. COD WWII on the other hand is one of my favorite COD games of all time. 

The boots-on-the-ground gameplay is at its best in WWII. The map designs are fantastic. The gunplay is some of the best I've experienced in COD. On top of all of that, there is an endless amount of in-game rewards that you can earn just by playing. Sure there are loot boxes, but you can earn several of them each day just by completing simple challenges. You are not required to spend $20 for a single outfit. 

It's this feeling of constantly getting something new that keeps this game from ever getting boring. Even with great gameplay, nothing to unlock makes a game feel kind of pointless after a while. Although I've played nearly 200 hours of WWII, I still have loads of things to unlock and even multiple weapons that I still have yet to use at all. 

WWII was the last COD game that enabled you to earn all of your rewards just by playing. After this one, things began to move towards the Battle Pass route where rewards were drip-fed to players at a much slower pace. Then of course we have arrived at a point now where the unlock costs end up surpassing the actual price of the game itself. 

I can't believe it has been so long since I played WWII. Getting back into this one instantly made me feel right at home. This is one of my better COD games in terms of my skill, but there is just so much to the multiplayer, which is my favorite part. This 100% is the best World War II COD game that I have access to on PS4/PS5. Xbox and PC users could argue that World at War is the best WWII-themed COD available to play today. As a PS5 gamer, I just don't have that option since I can only play PS4 and PS5 games.

I remember that this game at the time was one of the most realistic of the time, to the point that the cinematics of its campaign mode looked like a movie instead of a video game. A jewel.
