# It's free, but it's not for me... or you 

PlayStation released [August 2021's PS Plus titles](https://blog.playstation.com/2021/07/28/playstation-plus-games-for-august-hunters-arena-legends-plants-vs-zombies-battle-for-neighborville-tennis-world-tour-2/) last week, which I was pretty excited for. One I already had in my library, but the other two were pretty interesting looking to me. 

Today we will be focusing on the free PS5 title, Hunter's Arena Legends. This is a game that was already out on PC (albeit with a very small player base) but is coming to consoles. The game is a battle royale-style set in an oriental mythological world. The BR part wasn't really my thing, but I am obsessed with Asian culture. This had me pretty excited to see what this game was about. 

Although it is a BR game, the martial arts focus made it seem different to me. Sadly that's just not the case. It not only is your typical running around a giant map BR game, but it also sucks more than the average. I know many love BRs, but I just can't get into running around collecting a bunch of stuff and wasting my valuable gaming time. I would rather be actually playing, rather than going on a scavenger hunt. 

The characters in this game are super cool, I love their designs. Sadly using them is nowhere near as fun as they look. The controls and attacks just feel clunky. They didn't even implement the DualSense controller at all. Please explain to me why this isn't just a PS4 game, it makes no sense.

On top of all of this, there is no way to leave the game after you die. That means you just get to sit around idle and watch all of the other players fumble about the map. No bueno. I finished the lame tutorial and played one quick solo match, then instantly deleted this game from my SSD. I will never be playing it again, it just feels super low quality and not for me. Perhaps you will find a way to get into this game, but I highly doubt it.

It was a huge bummer for this game to be a total bust. If you're curious what this one is all about, just watch this video. I go from being genuinely excited by the badass intro video, to totally disappointed by the mediocre gameplay. The game looks pretty, but that is as far as it goes.

lol its fucked up you kinda need to restart the game to replay.  but it actually didn't look bad. the fighting mechanics seems fun. Parry, dodge etc..

there is a bunch of skills for each character as i can see.. and a lot of characters to choose.

you maybe should try it again in a few days.  im sure they will fix this shit at the end.  this game in group can be interesting.

Being stuck spectating after dying is the worst. 
The gameplay felt clunky, but perhaps someone could find a way to enjoy it. I just think way to many other games do this type of fighting so much better. 

The characters are undeniably cool, can’t say anything bad there. Too bad you only get a few seconds to select which one you want to use before the round. I didn’t really get time to see which one was the best for my style. 

I have zero desire to play this one again. It isn’t for me.
