# I got my second platinum trophy on PS5 

I have now had my PlayStation 5 for just under 2 weeks. After briefly taking the time to get [the platinum trophy for Astro’s Playroom](https://peakd.com/hive-140217/@daltono/i-got-the-platinum-trophy-for-astro-s-playroom-on-ps5), the next game I chose to play was God of War. 

God of War was released on 4/20/18 for PS4. It now comes for free with the PlayStation Plus Collection on PS5 along with many other great PS4 games. Many of those games are upgraded to run even better now since they are able to take advantage of the PS5’s power and speed. 

God of War is a game that benefits from these upgrades, I mean the load times were basically non existent. Plus the game now is able to run at a consistent 60fps, albeit at just 1080p. When I started God of War  on 11/13/20, I still only had a 1080p TV, so I was able to take full advantage of 60fps without having to choose between 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps. By the time I had finally achieved 100% and the platinum trophy on 11/22/20, I had just purchased a brand new 4K TV, but literally only had the final battle left in GOW. Playing through a God of War game for the very first time was an absolute treat. Not only had I failed to play this game since 2018, but I also had never played any of the other God of War games that released since 2005. I thought they were all just button mashing games with lots of blood and gore. Boy was I wrong, at least when it comes to the latest God of War game. 

The story in this game was absolutely amazing and the fact that they mix in so much Norse mythology and mythical locations had me deeply enchanted. Not only that, but the combat was incredibly deep and never once started to feel repetitive. I have a lot more to say about God of War, but I want to show you some of what I experienced first so you have a decent understanding.

# My Video

In [my Astro’s Playroom blog](https://peakd.com/hive-140217/@daltono/i-got-the-platinum-trophy-for-astro-s-playroom-on-ps5) I explained that I use SHAREFactory to edit my PS5 gameplay videos. I won’t go into detail how that works again, but just want to reiterate the fact that I was able to record and edit this entirely on my PS5. 

Now you can enjoy this awesome video that I created showing me unlock every single trophy in God of War.

One new thing I learned while editing this God of War gameplay was the fact that all of the SHAREFactory themes from PS4 are not compatible with the PS5 version. For somebody that was planning on making a God of War video, that was a big let down since there was a God of War theme on PS4 that had a custom intro/outro and transitions. 

Luckily I figured out that I could save the old theme as a video on PS4 and then transfer that video to a USB drive and import the video to my PS5 using the USB drive. The new toolbox feature of PS5’s SHAREFactory enabled me to port the old theme. 

If you watched the entire video then you may have realized I only showed me unlocking 36 trophies and not 37. That’s because the final trophy unlocked at the same time as the platinum trophy. So I didn’t want to show the same clip twice. I did however take a screenshot of that moment which you will see further into this blog.

# God of War is a legendary PlayStation exclusive! 

I am astonished that it took me over two years to finally play God of War, but I’m so happy I finally did. This title along with many other exclusives are what solidify PlayStation as my console of choice. You can now add in the fact that we have the clever DualSense controller as well, which by the way this game doesn’t make full use of. There are no adaptive triggers or precise haptics with God of War. That and the fact that 4K 60fps wasn’t a thing are literally my only gripes about my play-through. Really though, I can’t complain about that considering the game is from mid 2018 and the PS5 just released in late 2020.

The combination of the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Bare-Handed brawling made for some exceptional gameplay. I wasn’t hyped by [the new God of War: Ragnarök teaser trailer](https://youtu.be/Ty7WudwSKMA) when I first saw it, mostly because I had never played God of War and didn’t realize how freaking awesome it was. Now when I watch it, I can’t help but get excited knowing sometime in 2021 I will get my hands on a next-gen God of War title set during [Ragnarök](https://norse-mythology.org/tales/ragnarok/).

The grind for the platinum trophy on God of War took me 41 hours spanning across 9 days. Time very well spent in my opinion and many thanks to [this trophy guide](https://www.powerpyx.com/god-of-war-2018-trophy-guide-roadmap/). If you are like me and had never played God of War when you get your PS5, then I highly recommend you play it. Especially since it is free with the PlayStation Plus Collection. It’s a no brainer, don’t be silly.
