A short explanation for those who are not familiar with beneficiaries rewards. When someone is making a post, he/she can choose another account to receive a share or all the rewards from that post. This basically means that the original author is transferring those payouts to other account. Beneficiaries are still under the category of authors rewards, just realocated to other account.

Beneficiary is a very handy tool for platforms, referrals, projects participants etc. For example I’m making the @leo.stats report and my account is a beneficiary for the payouts from that post. 

Thing is this share keeps increasing and it is now more than 20% from all author rewards. Let’s take a closer look.


## Authors and Beneficiaries Rewards

First let’s take a look at the historical data for the authors vs beneficiaries rewards.

This is a chart for the all time authors and beneficiaries payout. The yellow are payouts to beneficiaries. 

This is quite a long timeframe, starting from 2016 up to now. We can notice the big fluctuations in the first year, and then later in 2019 a drop in the authors payout, when the payouts transitioned from 75% authors, 25% curators to 50% - 50% share. 

*Note that this is Hive Power payouts only, so the total author and beneficiaries payouts are double when we add HBD.*

### When we zoom in 2021 – 2022 we get this:

We can notice that there is a small drop in the overall payouts, but the beneficiaries’ rewards seem to be growing. 
In May 2022 on average 13.5k Hive Power is being rewarded per day, out of which 3k are going to beneficiaries. 
In January 2022 the total author rewards was 16.9k per day, while the beneficiaries share was 2k.  
The overall author rewards have reduced, but the beneficiaries’ rewards have increased. 

### When we plot the pie for May 2022 we get this:

A **22%** share for beneficiaries in May 2022. 
In January 2021 this was 12% share. 

## Top beneficiaries 

Here is the chart for the top beneficiaries in May 2022.

The @hbdstabilizer is on the top here with 160k Hive Power received as beneficiary in May 2022. When we add the HBD payouts it accounts for double than the above. 
This is coming from the @hbd.funder account that is creating daily [comments](https://hive.blog/@hbd.funder/comments) and setting up the stabilizer as a beneficiary. From all the beneficiaries the stabilizer is accountable for 75% share of it. 
These funds are going to the stabilizer as an additional funding for maintaining the peg. Some of the top Hive stakeholders are supporting and upvoting the @hbd.funder and it seems that it has grown over the year. 
The @reward.app is on the second place. This account is giving a service and is paying in liquid HIVE. Next is the 3Speak @spk.beneficiary for users that post through the 3Speak app. The other users on the list are around the 1k HIVE mark.
