I wanted to do this analysis a bit later, since the tipping function on Hive is still very new and available only on one of its frontends, Peakd.com. 


But curiosity got me, and I wanted to check how things are. So here it is. Data on Hive tipping in its early days.

Some say that HivePower gives you the option to tip indefinitely. Well you can now do this the old fashion way, with the liquid HIVE :).


A big shout out to the @peakd team for doing this. Some called this a historical day for Hive 😊. It gives Hive one more use case. 

We will be looking at:
-	HIVE and SBD tips per day
-	Number of tips per day
-	Top 20 Accounts that are tipping
-	Top 20 accounts that received tips

The period that we will be looking here is April 17 till May 9, 2020.

Hive tips were announced from @peakd on April 24, [Tips, Notifications and Other Improvements](https://peakd.com/hive-163399/@peakd/tips-notifications-and-other-improvements) but it seems that there were some testing prior to this, so the period above is basically taking into account all tipping operations that were made. 

# HIVE and HBD tips per day

Here is the chart for the HIVE and HBD tips by date.

**A total of 1,562 HIVE and 402 HBD was tipped in the period.**

The gray column are the HBD tips. 

As we can see there is some small amounts of tips made prior to the official announcement on April 24th. On April 24th almost 200 HIVE was tipped and the next day it reached the max amount of 295 HIVE tipped in a day. Since then the average daily HIVE tipped is 110. 

HBD is also being tipped but less then HIVE. I imagen this may change in the future if the price of HIVE is going up and more HBD is printed. 


The above is in terms of stake. But how many tips in absolute number was made.

**A total of 1964 tips in the period.**

Again, we can see there are tips made prior to announcement on April 24th and increase afterwards. The record number of tips made was on the announcement day with 215 tips and afterwards the average on daily tips is around 90.

I guess @tipu is living up to his name 😊. Massive lead on the first place with a total of 1691 tips made. In such a small period of time, nice! Next are @cardboard and @runicar on the third place.

@maleidamarcano is the most tipped account in the period with the highest number of tips received, followed by @tattoodjay and @old-guy-photos. Congrats!

In my opinion I think this is a great start for a functionality that is there for a just a few weeks. The community is still not used to this and it take some time to explore this further and maybe make more options for it. 

Hope that hive.blog implement this as well.
