Most are missing the elegance of the situation. This 'FORK' talk is not a bad thing? This is what REAL freedom looks like. No matter if Ego based or for Altruistic reasons, neither choice (CORE or UNLIMITED) is completely one or the other.

Some people believe that a group is attempting to Centralize or otherwise limit innovation of a great and growing freedom technology, so someone steps up to offer an alternative option. That's freedom. Opposing views see the new player as the Centralizer or just a bunch of incompetent programmers (be it true or made up or somewhere in the middle). That's freedom.

Look at the history of what happens to citizens who create alternative currencies to Central Banks. They all end up in prison or worse. Vilified by the media as lunatics, every last asset confiscated, always an excuse that the justice system finds to imprison them, and scares the shit out everyone else. This is likely the very reason Bitcoin was invented.

This CORE / UNLIMITED process is needed. It's a check and balance to keep power from becoming force. Someone has to watch the watchers and keep them in check. It's beautiful. It's spontaneous. It's empowering. It's necessary. It shows that their is a class of people out there with some level of awareness to the destructive forces of Central Banks without a true method of checks and balances.

Those who like Core can go with Core. Those who like Unlimited can go with Unlimited. Each group can offer up their ideas and the people can weigh them and choose for themselves. The miners can pick. The users can pick. Coders can choose which is better. One of them may win, while the other loses, or they can both co-exist with different protocols. There is NO WRONG CHOICE as long as the people are allowed CHOICE. The only wrong CHOICE is NO CHOICE. Those who like neither don't have to use either - there are two Eths, a Dash, some Monero, and even the very one used to power this platform to choose from. You can even use them all, and if one of them starts taking 50% (taxation) and starts using it to wage war or poison the environment, you can opt out. Try doing that with a Central Bank controlled Revenue Department and Justice System.

The Ethereum / Classic split didn't destroy either, they both still exist @ #2 and #7. In the end it made the tech stronger, it provided a reminder to be careful not to exploit influence. The same can go for Bitcoin and it can and likely will emerge better and stronger then ever.
