This post proves why. 
Of all the social media platforms out there, Steemit has by far the most talented, most intelligent discerning community on the web. Honestly I dont think this is in dispute. We all know this. 
What is happening right now is merely a natural growth correction. At its birth the price was over inflated as is what happens with almost all new crypto currencies. Secondly many initial investors are selling off their steem of which is their own choice and they have their own reasons. 
This is actually a positive thing for it means the ecosystem will now evolve naturally. It means that the Dolphins will have more say and older dolphins will become new whales. These new dolphins and new whales have evolved with the system because they believed in it rather than bought into it for a profit at the start. This means the steemit ecosystem will begin to develop an environment by that is more in line with the general wishes of the majority of the community. It is actually a beautiful thing. It is a kind of natural selection and in all evolution there comes a period of a test for survival. This is that period. 
The other factor is the technology behind the steem alt-coin. Anyone who has even a basic understanding of crypto-currency knows that Steem is by far the most advanced crypto coin in existence. Trust me it really is.
Bitcoin set the ball rolling bit it is far out of date. Even DASH is far inferior to Steem. Eventually that knowledge will begin to come out and then Steem could actually come to dominate currency in a huge way.
As for the current price I have heard from talking to traders in Poloniex that the price could go as far down as 4. Then people will buy like crazy.
There are some problems with the inflation issue but Steemit devs are looking into this. Things are not as bad as it might steem.
I would just like to add - what a talent you are. Your song really moved me.

Awesome job on reworking the lyrics, the sentiment is sad but unfortunately fairly accurate of late - why can't we all just get along :)  

I think from time to time we all feel this way, I know i get really down when no one reads my fiction and I've spent hours writing and formatting it. 

I think we stay for the promise of what we know steemit can be, I hope in time things will settle and return to the good old days.
