I think that it will be possible to shift the peg to something else. I have asked Dan if he had backup plans in case of an economic collapse and he answered "yes".

I think it will, once Bitcoin is stable. Right now, it's still in its infancy.

Long term, it will collapse too, following the US dollar. But there will be a lag.

But realistically, they'll probably change the model. The Steemit system is very flexible that way.
