Great Job Dan!  I have been trying to track the price differential between Steem and Steem Dollars in an attempt to trade my Steem Dollars for STEEM and come out ahead and have more upside with STEEM.    It is sort of a hard thing to figure out.  A lot of unknowns.  
If you notice there is no interest being paid to Steem Dollars now in an attempt to dissuade people from holding it.  When it goes under a dollar the interest rate is raised in an attempt to encourage people to hold more of it and not sell it.  Tough balancing act.

Interesting topic dude, I always appreciate the insights you offer. I haven't hear too much on this one either.

* I did read a post that suggested we always do 50/50 payout on blogs because one can actually obtain more Steem by buying it with the accumulated SBD than what would be paid out by choosing 100% SP.  

* I wonder if the intention of SBD by the creators was in fact to really just support the growth of Steem.  "Taking the pressure off of it" as u suggested while adding to, or reenforcing rather it's overall strength.  

* Almost like another type of fail safe.  I already view the fact that you cannot power down all at once as a sort of "fail safe" for Steem.

I have a question that I've posed to other Steemians about SBD/Steem but i haven't received a decent answer. Maybe you have an idea.

My question is about payouts: 50/50 vs full power.

Recently, I've noticed that with the 50/50 payout...we don't actually receive equal SBD to SP. 
Here's a screen shot of what i'm talking about:

So this post earned about 34 dollars and curation is about 8. So with the 50/50 payout you would expect about 12SBD and 12 SP, right?

But that isn't the case as SBD was 12 and SP was 6.

So my question is:

Is the amount of payout calculated in Steem and therefore since the price of Steem has increased and surpassed SBD in the last month, is this why SP payouts appear to be half of SBD?

That's my best guess. I'm just looking for confirmation or some kind of explanation for this.
