At HIVE we are used to saving lives. Lifting people out of extreme poverty is very common here, especially in communities such as Venezuelan, Nigerian or Filipino. This phenomenon is expanding on other blockchain, more precisely on Ethereum's with the Axie Infinity game.

Last Saturday I bought my first axies. After being several days researching and observing how the game continued to grow and that the investment to enter, increased rapidly. I always dedicate time to investigate the projects where I invest, but I never imagined that a few days would cost me $400 more of investment. 

The truth is that I got in, after a few minutes of stress while I was buying the axies; because when I finally chose the one I wanted to buy, it was not available.

We are not the only ones with complicated registration; the blockchain world is an ocean of complicated login systems. For me being very familiar with cryptocurrencies; it became difficult for me to understand while watching YouTube videos and this made me procrastinate more. Then when I made up my mind and got into action I could see that it was not that complicated. The biggest complexity is knowing how to explain it and Youtubers go back and forth.

Apart from the fact that in Axie there are two wallets and 3 tokens, which could make it difficult to understand; the most complicated thing is to know which axies to buy. The first purchase is very difficult because you don't know the skills and which ones are better than others. You can't get carried away by the prices and even less by the cheapest ones or you could lose the investment. Then the know how much money you need to move to the wallet and when you have everything ready, the one you wanted is sold and you have to search again.

All this adventure for my entry in Axie, made me think a lot is that aspect that we also have in HIVE; the barriers to entry. It seems that it was not a problem in Axie, since people keep entering and it is impressive the massive growth that the game has. My conclusion is that it's all about money. The less rewards you get from the platform, the easier it should be to enter. If a platform has complicated registrations, it will have to have good rewards so that more people will be motivated to overcome those barriers.

Axie Infinity is a game that is changing lives. In the Philippines a village makes a living out of it. It helped them in the middle of the pandemic when they were out of work. It is also helping Venezuelans. Getting $1,000 a month for playing 4 hours a day is an impressive income in Venezuela and in any country.

Another barrier to entry is the investment. It cost me $1,200 but at the time of writing this post, it could already be $1,700 to buy a decent computer. However, as the investment goes up so do the returns. The average to recoup the investment is a month and a half to two months. That's an extraordinary return.


## Earning $500 a month just by playing

If you don't know about Axie, you may be wondering how this game is so viral, with such a high investment. It is because of the option of playing someone else's account; that way the so-called "scholarships" are granted, where the owner of the axies can delegate them for someone else to play; so people can play without investing and generate a tremendous income, which could exceed $400 a month, just for playing.

All this makes it a perfect way to expand. Through sharing your account and helping others to generate income, while you earn a good amount, it makes more and more people want to play and more people want to breed axies to give more scholarships. I plan to continue to grow in the game. I am going to reinvest the profits to give more scholarships. En HIVE estamos acostumbrados a salvar vidas. Sacar de la pobreza extrema a las personas es muy común aquí, sobre todo en comunidades como la venezolana, nigeriana o filipina. Este fenómeno se está expandiendo en otras blockchain, más precisamente en la de Ethereum con el juego Axie Infinity.

No somos los únicos con registro complicado; el mundo blockchain es un océano de complicados sistemas de ingreso. Para mí que estoy muy familiarizado con las criptomonedas; se me hizo difícil a la hora de entenderlo mientras veía los videos de Youtube y esto hizo que lo postergara más. Luego cuando me decidí y me puse en acción pude ver que no era tan complicado. La mayor complejidad es saberlo explicar y los Youtubers van para adelante y para atrás.

Apartando que en Axie hay dos wallets y 3 tokens, lo que podría dificultar el entendimiento; lo más complicado es saber qué axies comprar. La primera compra es muy difícil porque no conoces las habilidades y cuáles son mejores que otros. No te puedes dejar llevar por los precios y menos por los más económicos o podrías perder la inversión. Después el saber cuánto dinero necesitas para pasar a la wallet y cuando tienes todo listo, se vende el que querías y tienes que buscar de nuevo.

Toda esta aventura para mi ingreso en Axie, me hizo pensar mucho es ese aspecto que también tenemos en HIVE; las barreras de ingreso. Parece que no fuera un problema en Axie, ya que la gente sigue entrando y es impresionante el crecimiento masivo que tiene el juego. Mi conclusión es que todo se relaciona con dinero. Mientras menos recompensas se obtengan de la plataforma, el ingreso deberá ser más fácil. Si una plataforma tiene registros complicados, tendrá que tener buenas recompensas para que más gente se motive a superar esas barreras.

Axie Infinity es un juego que está cambiando vidas. En Filipinas un pueblo vive de esto. Los ayudó en plena pandemia cuando se quedaron sin empleo. También está siendo de gran ayuda para los venezolanos. Obtener $1.000 al mes por jugar 4 horas al día, es un ingreso impresionante en Venezuela y en cualquier país.

Otra de las barreras de ingreso es la inversión. A mí me costó $1.200 pero al momento de escribir este post, ya podría ser $1.700 comprar un equipo decente. Sin embargo, así como sube la inversión suben los retornos. El promedio para recuperar la inversión es de mes y medio a dos meses. Es un rendimiento extraordinario.

Es por eso que en Filipinas ha sido un éxito. Los primeros que comenzaron, vieron el potencial para su comunidad y se organizaron para formar una academia y que todos en el pueblo puedan jugar.

Al momento de escribir este post, la plataforma del juego está caída. Es complicado poder jugar por el gran volumen de usuarios que han colapsado los servidores, además que se suma un ataque DOS que recibieron. El discord del juego está revolucionado y solo se habla del tema. Personas molestas porque están dejando de ganar dinero. Otros nuevos inversores asustados porque no han recuperado la inversión. Lo cierto es que, pronto todo esto estará solucionado y el juego volverá a la normalidad, aunque con su actual crecimiento.

¿Es una burbuja? Mucha gente se lo pregunta, y es que cuando un activo sube de forma tan rápida, saltan las alarmas y el término "burbuja" al tapete. Lo cierto es que ningún activo es una burbuja en si, pero también es cierto que cualquiera puede sufrir una. Es muy probable que Axie vivia una burbuja en un futuro, pero sinceramente no creo que todavía sea el momento. De igual modo, si la vive y explota; el juego va a permanecer, solo que crecerá de forma más lenta después del gran bajón.

Pienso seguir creciendo en el juego. Voy a reinvertir las ganancias para dar más becas. Hay demasiadas personas queriendo jugar y mientas exista esa gran demanda, el juego seguirá creciendo. La burbuja llegará cuando los interesados por becas disminuyan y el juego se estabilice.
