Hoy finalizo este increíble viaje que recuerdo con tanta emoción y que podría decir que fue el mejor de mi vida, pero las comparaciones son odiosas y los juicios también 😁.

Para el último día en Tenerife, dejamos algo que formaba parte de nuestra motivación y que era llevar un mensaje de paz a los lugares que visitábamos. Era una campaña que se llamaba "Dr. King´s Tree", que inicié en 2008 con un grupo de personas y que se extendió por varios países. Consistía en plantar un árbol en honor a Martin Luther king llevando a ese lugar su mensaje de Noviolencia.

En esta oportunidad lo hicimos en un colegio del sur de Tenerife, ya que mi amiga que nos dio hospedaje en su casa, conocía a todas las maestras.

Compramos un granado en un vivero que nos costó 15€. Plantamos el árbol bien temprano y dimos una pequeña charla a los niños, sobre el objetivo de la campaña y quién era Martin Luther King; también sobre la paz y el bullying.

For the last day in Tenerife, we left something that was part of our motivation and that was to bring a message of peace to the places we visited. It was a campaign called "Dr. King's Tree", which I started in 2008 with a group of people and which spread to several countries. It consisted in planting a tree in honor of Martin Luther King, bringing to that place his message of Nonviolence.
In this opportunity we did it in a school in the south of Tenerife, since my friend who gave us accommodation in her house, knew all the teachers.
We bought a pomegranate tree in a nursery that cost us 15 euros. We planted the tree very early and gave a small talk to the children, about the objective of the campaign and who Martin Luther King was; also about peace and bullying.

Después de terminar con los niños, comenzamos nuestro camino hacia el norte de la isla, que es muchísimo más verde. En ese lugar el turismo mayormente es procedente de Alemania mientras que en el sur, es de Reino Unido.

La primera parada fue en Candelaria, un lugar bien conocido por su catedral, que no se por qué no le tomé fotos. También es famosa la plaza frente a la catedral donde se hospeda la Vírgen negra de la Candelaria; con unas estatuas de guanches (aborígenes de las Islas Canarias) que aparecen en la foto.

The first stop was in Candelaria, a place well known for its cathedral, which I don't know why I didn't take pictures of. Also famous is the square in front of the cathedral where the Black Virgin of Candelaria is staying; with some Guanche statues (aborigines from the Canary Islands) that appear in the photo.

Muy cerca de ahí se encuentra la capital de Tenerife, Santa Cruz. También la ciudad más importante de las 7 islas y donde nació mi hijo 😁. A toda la zona de la capital se le llama el centro de la isla o Tenerife Centro por algunos.

Llegando a Santa Cruz de Tenerife desde el sur, llegas directo a su casco histórico, donde está el ayuntamiento y también un ícono arquitectónico de la isla, como lo es el Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín (Foto de portada), diseñado por el famoso arquitecto eapañol, Santiago Calatrava (si quieres ver otra imponente obra de él que visité, la encuentras en [este post)](https://peakd.com/colorchallenge/@danielvehe/colorchallenge-friday-blue-ciudad-de-las-artes-y-las-ciencias)

Aunque viví en Tenerife 5 años; volver me hizo también conocer nuevas obras, como el trenvía, único en el que me he montado y me encantó. También la piscina espejo que es como una plaza, verdaderamente increíble.

El paseo debía ser rápido porque teníamos muchas cosas que ver, así que el resto de Santa Cruz lo hicimos en auto para que L conociera lo más posible.

Luego fuimos a Santa Úrsula que fue el primer lugar donde viví cuando fui en el 2002. Ahí conocía un restaurante familiar de tres hermanas, que la gente decía: "Vamos a comer donde las 3 gordas". Ahí fuimos para comer los espectaculares garbanzos que hacían, pero resulta que las "3 gordas" ya no estaban. El hermano mayor les compró el restaurante y ahora lo atiende con su esposa, pero igualmente la comida estuvo espectacular.

Then we went to Santa Úrsula which was the first place I lived when I went there in 2002. The older brother bought them the restaurant and now he serves it with his wife, but the food was still spectacular.

De ahí partimos a La Orotava, el pueblo donde nació parte de mi familia materna y al que le tengo un cariño especial. En ese pueblo también viví unos pocos meses e hice muchos amigos.

La Orotava es bello, porque está en un valle impresionante, dicho por el mismo Alejandro Humboldt, aunque ya sabemos que en todas partes decía lo mismo 😁

Es un lugar muy colonial donde puedes encontrar una zona con calles empedradas y arquitectura antigua. En esas calles realizan varios festivales al año; el más conocido son los dibujos con arena que se realizan en el piso de las calles.

También cuenta con unos templos impresionantes que tienen unas cúpulas bien resaltantes. 

Algo bien característico es que sus calle son muy empinadas. Siempre hay que subir o bajar mucho, así que te mantiene las piernas en forma.

Hay una urbanización muy bonita dentro de La Orotava y donde las calles no son tan empinadas, además tienen una hermosa vista al Teide. Se llama El Mayorazgo y justo ahí mi abuelo construyo un edificio llamado Oasis; igual que todos los que hacía en Caracas y les apodaba igual.

Terminando con La Orotava y ya atardeciendo; partimos hacia El Puerto de la Cruz, un lugar sumamente famoso por su atractivo turístico. Ahí precisamente se encuentra el Loro Parque que pudieron conocer en un [post](https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@danielvehe/mi-viaje-a-tenerife-loro-parque-my-trip-to-tenerife-loro-parque-esp-eng) anterior.

En este lugar de costa, aunque mucho más frío que el sur; se encuentran unas piscinas espectaculares llamadas Lago Martianez. Son 7 lagunas que se abastecen directamente del mar, por lo que son ecológicas; con unos impresionantes chorros como si fueran volcanes.

El diseño de este lugar es bien particular y aunque acemeja la arquitactura mediterranea, se diferencia con sus impresionantes rocas volcánicas que contrastan con el blanco de las piscinas que asemejan unas playas.

En este lugar puedes pasar un día completo de diversión y relajación a un precio económico de solo 5,50€ por persona, con la posibilidad de llevar tu comida y bebidas

El Lago Martianez también es bellísimo de noche, donde cuentas con un restaurante y bar en madio de la laguna principal y donde puedes cenar en las noches, disfrutando del ambiente en la noche. 

A esa hora la entrada es gratis y puedes caminar por el parque como lo hicimos nosotros. Hasta podría sentarte en alguno de sus bellos bancos a contemplar el brillo de las luces en tan espectaculares piscinas.
