dCity - SIM Token vs SIM Power

Since I am just getting start back with dCity, I am researching all of the different post about this game. I found this post informative and will narrow my actions going forward.

## SIM POWER
The SIM token is the main currency of dCity. The whole tokenomics of the game is centered around the SIM token. Most of the post that I have read mention the importance of holding SIM tokens. They also mentioned that the game moves slowly so don't rush the building of your dCity.

So with this in mind, I will be working to build my SIM token holdings.

I also learned that by holding at least 8,000 SIM Power, you can participate in the "Holding Rewards" which are distributed daily. The Holding Rewards are paid in HIVE.

I had to dig into this a little more to understand the different between SIM Power and SIM Token holdings. They terms are similar but not the same because I could hold 8,000 SIM tokens and still not have any SIM POWER.

SIM Power is a calculation based on an average 30 days SIM holdings snapshot.

So my first priority is to increase my SIM token holdings up to 8,000 + tokens. Then it will taken a little longer so that the average of my holdings over a 30 day time period to reflect 8,000.

But the first step is getting additional SIM Tokens. I used some extra funds I had and purchased as many as possible. Last week I had 17 SIM tokens, I increased my holdings to 1998.686 SIM.

## DCITY GOVERNANCE

Most might not be aware but there is a dCity Government. Those with SIM Power are able to vote and influence the game mechanics.

### Election

Periodically, a new President is elected. The office of President will change in 6 days.

There are currently 5 players running for President. However, I was a little surprised that only 49 players have voted on the President. So if you have SIM Power and have not yet voted, you may be able to make a difference in the election of the next dCity President.

### Lobby
Another way you can use your SIM Power to influence the game is by voting or lobbying on these four topics:
- Income Tax Reduction
- Ranking Rewards
- War Tax
- Holding Rewards

I am just now learning about all of these different terms and items in the game so for now I not go into any details on how they influence game play.

### Ranking Rewards
A third area SIM Power is used is in the Ranking Rewards. Ranking Rewards are paid out on a daily basis based on your Rank in the following five areas:
- Income
- Population
- Popularity
- Education
- Creativity

Your vote can influence how each one of these areas are weighted when Ranking Rewards are calculated and paid out.

## dCity Progress

Last week, I added a farm to my dCity. By adding the farm, I was able to "Perfectly Balance" my population between employed and unemployed.

I also noticed my income changed to a negative. I did have a Zero income, now it is negative 2. I do not know what to do at this point in time to get it back in the positive. I will keep reading post but in the meantime, I will keep growing my SIM token holdings until I have my SIM Power over 8,000.

Are you using the simulation option? It's a great way to test the effects of any cards on your city. I'd say you would need a card with income to get your income back to positive.

I work with the simulator to try and pick the cards I should add next.  However, I need to save up some more funds since it shows that I need to get a couple otherwise they are inactive.  Since I have now chosen to focus on accumulating my SIM holding to greater than 8,000 so that I have SIM Power, this will delay me adding additional cards.  One goal at a time while I get the funds together.  I also have learned how to pull up and look at others dcity, I think this will also help me pick which cards to add next.  Take care.

After a short period of time, I've understood that dCity is not a fast-paced game.  😄 Rome wasn't built in a day and so on. But I kinda like the fact that it's more like a marathon!

I have been playing DCity since it was a discord based game, and you know what? I still don't "get it."

Especially cause they keep adding new features. Like, Priests? That reminds me, I need a church. 

I believe (90% sure) you lost your income because all of your citizens are employed, when you have unemployed population, you get a tax refund of sorts.

I had the understanding the SIM you were holding would show up as SIM power as a 30 day average of your holding. I am not aware that we have to do anything for this to happen. It states it will happen at the time of the snapshot. I will be researching this because mine has not showed up either. But I will find out.
