In my day to day, I am a tutor and for reasons unknown to me I ended up being assigned to Political Science (PSC) courses. During my most recent session that I had, my student and I listened to the recording of the lecture that he had gathered. For the first half hour or so, it actually wasn't that bad. I myself was learning something (or at least reviewing)  about the dynamics about the historical context of power. All in all...not too bad. If this is all it was, I would not have really been too bothered. That being said, the recording went on. Needless to say, it got really cringy. Now this was a sixty-five year old man, talking about how he has "white privilege" (which is bullshit, but I digress). This is a guy who went as far as saying he would punch anyone he saw that had a Confederate flag.

He went on to say this was because his grandchildren are biracial, but there is still a problem in this line of thinking. What this instructor was tacitly saying is "I will assault someone who has different beliefs from me." This entire opinion was based on subjective opinions. "**TO ME** the Confederate flag is about slavery". Regardless of what your interpretation of the Confederate flag is, this is a dangerous idea for a college professor to be spreading. Now, I am not a fan of the Confederate flag, but I would not tell someone they can't fly it and I especially would not physically assault someone for holding a different belief than me.
