 I guess I could call it my new/used computer. Well, since Windows 7 is about to be expired come January 14, 2020, I thought instead of upgrading my computer is to let it retire. I will still use it, but offline. Well, that old computer that I am going to let retire was bought around May or June of 2008 with Vista for about $800 new then some years later I put Windows 7 Pro on it. Well, it has been 11 years since I bought it and I just can't add anymore RAM to that old computer. So I bought this used Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 today as I write. One of the reasons that I bought it was it has 8GB of RAM, but it will support a max of 32GB. Well, I thought there is room for expansion. My old computer just had 3GB of RAM and I like to open a lot of windows, especially when I am trying to check things out on the internet, when I am writing a blog. So much time just waiting for stuff to come up. I knew I was using over 90% of my RAM most of the time. So I am writing with this my new/used computer and what a difference. I still got to get used to the Windows 10. Oh by the way, this computer came with Windows 10 Pro activated. So that is good. One of the main reasons for getting this computer is that Windows 7 is ending soon. The other reason is that my old computer with only 3GB of RAM was really slow and if Windows 7 wasn't ending then I would just live with its slowness. However with this new/used computer things are really going fast. I like that. I had to go out of town to get this Lenovo TS140. Fifty miles up and fifty miles back home. I found this computer place that recycles older computers and fixes them up. They had an ad in the computer sales section of Craigslist. Well I got this Lenovo TS140 with Window 10 Pro activated, they did throw in the mouse and keyboard $145, then I wanted two monitors. I bought 2 used 20 inch monitors for $25. Then I asked the guy if they would put a bigger power supply in. He didn't have the adopter or he would have put it in for an extra charge. So it came time to pay and the guy adds it all up and he has to add in the 8.75% sales tax. Well, when it as all said and done it came out to $179.44. Now looking at the receipt he only charged me $20 for the two monitors and he even threw in the 500 watt power supply for free. I just have to put it in myself after I buy an adapter on Ebay. I can't believe the guy gave me such a great deal. I was hoping that everything would be just under $200 as I was driving there and it turns out to be just under $180 out the door. I told the guy that I will have to come back one of these days. Oh and the computer has a one terabyte hard drive. So it has a lot more storage than my old computer. Well, I do enjoy writing with this new/used computer. That's a good deal to be honest. But in India mostly used computers don't have any big resale value. Most of the used computers are assembled one. We assemble system by ourselves by purchasing components. I hardly see branded desktops and even if I see one, it will probably be in some business places. Otherwise it is all assembled desktops. But laptops are not assembled in most of the case. Now the trend is moving towards Nvme. The future can even be without RAM. Nvme are equally faster than RAM and can even replace them in future as the cost is also affordable.

I have never tried to put a computer together from components. That is pretty good. I haven't heard of Nvme, I'll have to look into that. Thank you @bala41288!

Most of the time I get my used/refurbed machines from https://discountcomputerdepot.com/ They are easy to work with, offer great prices, and their warranty/support is great. Standard warranty is 1 year, with the option to extend it. Their inventory updates fairly often. And they offer custom build options as well.
