Looking at the graph of Bitcoin price for a whole year, we can see that if we look at the graph up to the beginning of May, we could have extended that graph at that point (see my extrapolation in black) to a point slightly lower that where we are now.

# What does this tell us?

It tells us that it can't necessarily be claimed from the long term-data that there is chaos in the Bitcoin market.

Yes, things have changed from the unbelievable growth shown over a one-month period, but it is nothing particularly remarkable.

# Do we know what will happen next?

The extrapolation suggests that Bitcoin could go down even further. It would be a mistake to draw that conclusion, though, because the extrapolation just shows what could be, and not what actually is. Other outcomes are possible (significantly higher or lower) using other non-fluctuating curves to extrapolate as a long-term trend.

# So, should I invest in Bitcoin?

In the end, investor sentiment is what will make the final decision as to what the price of Bitcoin will be, and no one can predict that.

At least, I can't!
