This song reached  number one in a number of countries. The timeline for it reaching the top spot is as follows:

- Australia - December 1981
- New Zealand - February 1982
- Canadian - October 1992
- United States - January 1983
- United Kingdom - January 1983

In 2009, Men at Work were sued for the unlicensed use of  part of an old children's song, "Kookaburra". 

A ruling was made in 2010 that Men at Work had indeed infringed copyright of the song and that 5% royalties should be paid from 2002 onward.
While Men at work tried to appeal the ruling, in 2011 the High Court of Australia refused to hear it.
