It's more likely that McConnell resigns before the Senate convicts Trump, but stranger things have happened. But you hit the nail on the head in that you should always do the right thing, even if it's not the popular thing to do. To not impeach Trump would show that America has no teeth left and that the US constitution is spiritually dead, and to be honest the wolves are already at America's door. 

It's been said that where there's no enforcement of the law, there is no law and there is no freedom. I don't think the more obnoxiously vocal Trump supporters understand what actual anarchy would be like, as we live in a world where guns won't save your life if your power is shut off and the grocery store shelves are empty. Under Martial law the military would consider any civilian bearing arms to be hostile, and there wouldn't be civil war, there'd be civil massacre as all the idiots come out of the wood works looking for a gun fight, their mind turned to soup from brainwashing and left-right partisan nonsense. 

Technically as long as they don't submit it to the senate for a trial, the impeachment is not valid. It's like a bunch of lawyers building a case to indict someone, but not filing it to court, or someone getting beat up in the streets, then picked up by police for help, but not filing a complaint for investigation.  Pelosi and friends can keep their precious non-impeachment impeachment as a souvenir, her party of losers reach higher levels of insanity every day.

Next is you get him kicked out of office. But, well that's not going to happen.
