One doesn't have to be highly intelligent to realize they can't make enough to cover the cost of everyday living.  You can be the most ignorant person on earth but you understand what going hungry feels like because you can feel it, it's not like it's something one can ignore.  Just like finding oneself sleeping in a tent on a sidewalk, finding yourself living back home with the parents, these are all things a person can physically relate to, it doesn't take a genius to figure out you've been lied to for decades.  Sold out to the cheapest bidder in China.  Cognitive dissonance belongs exclusively to groups of people whom ignore the plight of their own fellow Americans while in some feel good relationship with themselves that the world "globally" is much more important than the plight of those whom have suffered under globalization.  I can relate to why the left loves to term these individuals ignorant as it has taken them decades to realize what the real implications of globalization meant, it had nothing to do with an cost advantage of acquiring cheaper products but the plain fact that in order for globalization implementation to be successful it would require that they be brought down to the same standard(s) of living as those impoverished in third world countries.  I guess you can say they woke up and realized the joke was on them.   When they were passive little sheeple the left loved them, now they want to, how shall we term it, I think Hillary phrase it quite well, come out from what they said in private and openly tell you how we've felt about you all along, your ignorant...oh, and deplorable on top of it.  

Cognitive dissonance, as stated, belongs exclusively to the supposed "woke" of the left.  Their firm belief that mankind can just shake hands and all will be good haven't looked back far enough in history to see there has never been such a rationalization.  They want to believe all mankind woes started with the invention of military arms forgetting the concept of spears, knives, clubs and whatever other creative means man conjured up to inflict great harm upon his enemies.  There's no kumbaya in mans history outside those sung along the campfires.  

The same cognitive dissonance that allows them to ignore that it would be globalization for their woeful cries of climate change.  Just as they expect millions of Americans to adjust to a lower standard of living they expect them to change their habits for their quest to have product delivered half way from across the globe preferably at their door step.   

Now that the sheeple have woke to the "woke" you do what most who have nothing viable left to say and resort to name calling and classification.
