# The irony is that there is zero visibility and it's freezing. 

As the name suggests, Bog Snorkelling is exactly that, snorkelling a dirty water bog.

In August 2015 I had the lucky chance of competing in the World Bog Snorkelling Championships in Wales, UK. **Well, anyone can compete, you just have to turn up on the day.** We drove for three hours into the thick of the countryside to arrive at a field in the middle of nowhere. 

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, fancy dress advised and everyone hypes everyone else because the whole thing is so ridiculous.

You have to swim two lengths of a water-filled trench cut through a peat bog. Snorkels and flippers are mandatory and you're no conventional swimming strokes.

Although I did not win, everyone gets a medal because it's gnarly.

## I accidentally drank some water while swimming and puked at the finish line. All round, a great event.
