A game dev enjoyed my review on his game!

<p>So, as of late I have started doing more and more game reviews here on Steemit. I've always enjoyed writing, and doing these reviews has really let me get back into doing just that more often. It just so happens to be a bonus that I'm writing about my opinions on video games, which makes it even better for me since I've always been an avid video game lover. I've been trying my best to put as much effort as I can into writing my reviews, and it seems that it's paid off in a way which I definitely wasn't expecting!&nbsp;</p>
<p>I reviewed a video game by the name of DISTRAINT about 8 or 9 days ago, a smaller indie horror title that is quite enjoyable. I also happen to follow the guy who made the game on twitter (Jesse), and I saw that he was talking about releasing a deluxe version of the game towards the end of the month (September 29th). I commented with my excitement on the release of it since I loved the original version, and offhandedly remarked that I had just reviewed the original game a few days before he made this announcement.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Surprisingly, Jesse was actually interested in reading my review on his game. I cannot tell you how freaking cool this was to me, I definitely never thought one of my reviews would end up in the hands of the game developer who made it. I know it's just a smaller indie title and not a AAA tier game or anything, but I truly loved the game and have respect for Jesse for making such a good game (especially in such a short time).&nbsp;</p>
<p>He appreciated my article enough to give me a retweet on twitter, and paid me a compliment on my writing and the effort I put into my review. I'm not sure if he knows how much this meant to me, but, it really meant a lot. I thought it was just a pipedream to actually have something like this happen. I mean, I've always thought in the back of my head that I'm just some random guy on the internet. Who'd actually care what I have to say? Writing here on Steemit has helped me feel a bit better though, as from time to time I've actually gotten people interested in the games I've reviewed and been lucky enough to find some people who appreciate my content. &nbsp;</p>

<p>I have to really thank Steemit for allowing me to have an awesome platform to write my articles on. I don't think by any means that this could have happened if I hadn't stumbled my way onto this great website, as I've never felt fully comfortable sharing my thoughts and opinions on social media really beyond making stupid memes or jokes. Everyday I post on here I feel more comfortable and happy with my work, and in someways it's helping my self confidence at sharing my views on things.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So, to everyone who follows me, as well as just Steemit in general, thank you so much :) This experience has not only made my week so much better than it was, but made me even more determined to continue to do more game (and the occasional movie) reviews and keep up with posting quality content on here more often. I really hope more and more of you continue to find my work and enjoy it in some shape or form. I agree. I am trying to build a website but it gets like zero traffic and it probably never will get much as I am no good at promoting it and am pretty lousy at webdesign. In the meantime I started using steemit and you are absolutely right about how easy it is to use and it does get your content in front of a lot of people. I just wish there were a index or homepage that we could have and edit beyond the initial 7 days time fram.. I just want to keep an up to date list of all the games i play rate and review. But other than that it is the first blog or social media site I've used where I have shared so much with strangers.

Yeah, I think I'd be in the same boat if I tried making my own website for video game reviews. There's already so many sites that do just that, it'd be hard to get my stuff to stand out. At least I'm an early adapter on here where I can set myself apart a bit and hopefully build up a small, but solid following. 

I also agree, by the way. It would be nice to have a slightly better UI for the site, and I'd like to be able to edit posts beyond the 7 day mark in case I want to add/change anything after updates or DLC's released, that kinda stuff. And, I started out with Reddit before making my way here. I feel much more comfortable however speaking my mind and opinions on here than Reddit. Everything over there is a giant circlejerk and it's just become so cancerous over the past few years.

Haha, I can only dream of that, man. It is an interesting thought though :) Lets hope Steemit can make that happen, because shit like IGN and Polygon needs to be phased out at some point :P
