My phone has become my every day tool, when I’m not sleeping then texting, chatting making a call or scrolling through social media, sometimes in between my sleep I pause a check notifications or answer a call, thats why when I really need my beauty sleep in the afternoon I make sure to turnoff my data, put the phone on silent or Dnd, just to actually avoid any form of disturbance from the unrealistic world, although most times I find it hard to do this because I feel like I’m missing out from the world already in a space of few minutes but I still manage to do it when I know that my body needs the rest and cutting short the nap might bring about my head aching me.

Although I can go minutes or an hour without touching my phone when am not asleep, but up to 2 hour when i’m not asleep might be hard tho, I might not even be online but I will just hold the phone and scroll through it and probably might start deleting pictures that are no longer needed or playing music or even going through past conversations that I had with my partner, and I really do this alot anytime I’m bored but do not want to disturb him. Honestly the only thing that can make me go hours or days without my phone is if the phone is not available and by this I mean the phone was stolen.

I remember when my phone was stolen, for some days I wasn’t really my self, I cried all through the night, infact I was a bit deppressed because the money for the phone was huge first of all, it was a gift and its unlike me not have any device to scroll through social media and chat with my friends, earlier this year my phone screen got really bad, the phone fell off my nieces hand it went blind partially but the blindness was really bad, I could barely see on the screen, it was as though I had no phone, I remember sharing premium tears when I saw my phone screen. I stayed like that for up to a month, honestly I didn’t have the money to fix at the time and how I even managed to accept the screen like that was a miracle.

For me my phone isn’t just a device anymore, its like a lifeline to work, business, entertainment and keeping in touch with family friends, the moment it buzzes, lights up or makes a sound I’m instantly pulled in. Most times when my data finishes it actually gives me anxiety, it just feels like I’m missing out on something, A close friend mine then thought something had happened to me when he didn’t see me online for hours, I purposely didn’t buy data and my numbers didn’t go through.
He was literally scared, when I later called him he was so happy and he even warned me not to go off like that again.

As humans our reliance on our phone is actually concerning because it only shows that our devices are controlling us which is not supposed to be so, silence and peace now feels uncomfortable, we are so addicted to the noise and voilence and fake lifestyle on social media.
