The Matrix Resurrections is the film I have been expecting the most from last year. The original trilogy is among the most enjoyable ones I have ever seen, and even though there were things I didn't like in some of these films, especially in the third one, I was still a bit hyped about seeing what new story could be created to expand this franchise. <br><br>
Expanding the Matrix with a new film was certainly a risky decision by Lana Wachowski. After so much time and after having gained the praise of people from all over the world, she was running the risk of ruining the franchise for many of its original fans. The reason why she took this risk was to cope with the emotional pain of suffering the loss of her parents. I guess bringing back the best work of her career would keep her occupied and productive during those difficult times. <br><br>
Personally, even though I was hyped about this new film, I understood it could also result in the Matrix franchise being overmilked by one of its creators, and overmilking successful productions never ends well and might even lose a higher number of fans compared to the new fans that are gained.
<h2><center>What was the movie about?</center></h2>
This film isn't a prequel or remake, this is a sequel to Matrix Revolutions but due to the nature of how this fictional world works, a lot of the things we see are just new iterations of previous things we have already seen. <br><br>
The plot doesn't expand the philosophy of the matrix, but rather it makes an effort to ignore this aspect even though it was one of the main selling points of the first film and one of the main reasons that made this franchise so successful. It focuses on romance, feelings, and love while Matrix was never about that in the first place and sometimes it even reminded me of Anne Hathaway's speech about love that also felt anti-climatic in Interstellar. <br><br>
There is a good reason why the events can be described as a new iteration of old ones and it is obviously related to the nature of software where new iterations should always be a bit more sophisticated than old ones while also remaining very similar. <br><br>
This film can be seen as a new beginning and also as a new opportunity for the main characters to achieve the ambitious goals they have always wanted. If we remember the ending of Matrix Revolutions, it is made clear the Matrix itself was still running and the new version of it was about to be released thanks to Neo visiting Machine City. Each new version of the Matrix is better than the previous one, and this film is simply some events happening again in this new version, with some twists to keep things interesting of course. <br><br>
Besides the changes inside the Matrix, there were also important changes in the real world and how human civilization worked outside the Matrix. The film makes a good job explaining some of the events between this film and the previous ones, and I don't think viewers will be left with many doubts about what happened during that time.

Ampliar Matrix con una nueva película fue sin duda una decisión arriesgada de Lana Wachowski. Después de tanto tiempo y después de haber ganado los elogios de personas de todo el mundo, corría el riesgo de arruinar la franquicia para muchos de sus fanáticos originales. La razón por la que tomó este riesgo fue para sobrellevar el dolor emocional de sufrir la pérdida de sus padres. Esta película no es una precuela ni un remake, es una secuela de Matrix Revolutions, pero debido a la naturaleza de cómo funciona este mundo ficticio, muchas de las cosas que vemos son solo nuevas iteraciones de cosas anteriores que ya hemos visto. <br> <br>
La trama no amplía la filosofía de la matrix, sino que se esfuerza por ignorar este aspecto a pesar de que fue uno de los principales puntos de venta de la primera película y una de las principales razones que hicieron que esta franquicia fuera tan exitosa. Se centra en el romance, los sentimientos y el amor, mientras que Matrix nunca se trató de eso en primer lugar y a veces incluso me recordó el discurso de Anne Hathaway sobre el amor que también se sintió anti-climático en Interstellar. <br> <br>
Hay una buena razón por la que los eventos pueden describirse como una nueva iteración de los antiguos y obviamente está relacionado con la naturaleza de lo que es un software, donde las nuevas iteraciones siempre deben ser un poco más sofisticadas que las antiguas y, al mismo tiempo, seguir siendo muy similares. <br> <br>

Cada nueva versión de Matrix es mejor que la anterior, y esta película son simplemente algunos eventos que suceden nuevamente en esta nueva versión, con algunos giros para mantener las cosas interesantes, por supuesto. <br> <br>

There was some cool creative work related to the design and improvements of this new Matrix, and the levels of meta at the beginning of the film can rival those from Bandersnatch, the Black Mirror's special interactive episode from a couple of years ago. <br><br>
The action scenes were all right, not as original as those from the first 2 films, but can still be considered entertaining. There was even a cool scene that reminded me of some youtube videos where a bunch of people play GTA 5 online, and some players act as hunters and they need to find and stop either 1 player, or several of them, you can check this concept for yourself in this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g9TWL3BCjk). The popular YouTuber MrBeast has also made similar videos with his crew, such as this [one.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLDj2TTyMGM) <br><br>
I am not really sure this movie was really necessary because I don't think it adds much value to the Matrix original story, especially because the love and romance topic feels like something so foreign when exploring ideas about machine-ran simulations. However, I still had a nice time watching it and was able to enjoy it for the most part. <br><br>
Finally, the after-credit scene is one of the most ridiculous I have ever seen. I have no idea what was the reason to add a scene with such a dumb dialogue.
<h2><center>Main names associated with the film</center></h2>
The main writer, director, and one of the 2 original creators of the Matrix franchise is Lana Wachowski. She has also participated in many other well-known productions such as V for Vendetta, where she worked as a writer, and Sense8, which was a series created by her. <br><br>
David Mitchell also worked on the film as another one of the writers. This isn't the first time he works with Lana because he wrote one of the episodes of Sense8, and he also is the original writer of the novel Cloud Atlas. <br><br>
Aleksandar Hemon is the remaining writer and this film was only the third time he worked as a writer in the entertainment industry, and the second time working with Lana since he also wrote 1 episode of the Sense8 series. Out of the 3 writers, Lana Wachowski is the only one with extensive experience in this industry. <br><br>
Keanu Reeves is an actor that pretty much every movie watcher knows. The best role of his career is probably his character in the Matrix films, Neo, as well as John Wick. Some of the other productions where he has worked are The Lake House, Constantine and recently he even played a character in the videogame Cyberpunk 2077.

Carrie-Anne Moss plays Trinity, Neo's love interest and one of the main characters of the entire trilogy. In recent years, this actress has worked in many TV shows such as Tell Me a Story, Jessica Jones, and Wisting. <br><br>
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Morpheus in a younger version, to say the least. The original Morpheus in the first 3 films is older and the reasons why the actor must be a different person are explained in this film. This actor has recently participated in many great productions, and a few examples of those are Candyman, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and the series Watchmen.
<h2><center>How were the performance from the cast, the scenery and the camera work?</center></h2>
The performance was OK but not necessarily great because some of the characters inside Matrix that were supposed to be normal people could be quite annoying or silly. Out of the main cast members, I really liked Carrie-Anne Moss' performance, even more than Keanu Reeves' performance. <br><br>
The scenery was fine, but it lacked the originality of the first 3 films. In many ways, this new movie felt like a copy-paste instead of feeling like something entirely new. There were some differences in the settings, but the creative work was nothing close to what was done before. <br><br>
The camera work wasn't as mind-blowing when comparing it to what they did in the first 2 Matrix films. It didn't help increase either the epicness in some of the action films or the immersion. It felt like a generic camera work.
<h2><center>Final thoughts</center></h2>
Matrix Resurrections was a fun action film but I didn't like the fact that this film spent so much time repeating the same events that we already saw in the original films. The entire movie isn't a remake but the beginning of it sure felt like one. <br><br>
I don't think this film should get a follow-up movie because I suspect Lana Wachowski doesn't have enough creative fuel to continue with this new beginning, plus, we are now bordering on overmilk the franchise and as mentioned before, when this happens to production, it never ends well. <br><br>
As the movie advanced, sometimes I felt disappointed, other times I felt a bit intrigued. The film obviously has some cool scenes, and my personal favorite was the last one which was very epic. But continuing with this might result in very underwhelming results. I do recommend watching it though, most people will probably like it as it is certainly a cool action film. <br><br>

Matrix Resurrections fue una película de acción divertida, pero no me gustó el hecho de que esta película pasara tanto tiempo repitiendo los mismos eventos que ya vimos en las películas originales. Toda la película no es un remake, pero el comienzo seguro que se sintió como tal. <br> <br>
No creo que esta película deba tener una segunda parte porque sospecho que Lana Wachowski no tiene suficiente combustible creativo para continuar con este nuevo comienzo, además, ahora estamos al borde de sobre explotar la franquicia y, como se mencionó antes, cuando esto le pasa a cualquier producción, nunca termina bien. <br> <br>
A medida que avanzaba la película, a veces me sentía decepcionado, otras veces me sentía un poco intrigado. La película obviamente tiene algunas escenas geniales, y mi escena favorita fue la última. Pero continuar con esto podría resultar en resultados muy decepcionantes.
