*** <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmayyp5Wzma4KdUqzFKSSyNLRWYVryHe8iYDDHTQydPFut/image.png</center> <center>https://steemitimages.com/0x0/https://steemitimages.com/DQmdPv5BHKLhXj8dArzvphtgjqsGzVNKoZfgNCPmR1EELmC/capture.png</center> <div class="text-justify"> Sometimes we see people, especially in the entertainment industry doing music or working as actors or movie directors, and when consuming their content we realize it is not as good as we expected, and we can even notice a lot of mistakes if the content we are consuming is a movie for example. Mistakes regarding the way the actor reacts to what is happening in the screen. In other words, the movie is bad, but that doesnβt stop the producers from trying to market this content as if it were of good quality. <div class="pull-right">https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcFFYGvFGghiEb8o7L2DJGLETq1U1TACf2hFK3xqhtL7p/image.png <center><i></i></center></div> These could happen because there are always going to be people that believe they can do anything (nothing wrong with that), by falling in love with their work (which is not bad at all), but by not objectively comparing themselves with the work of others, or at least failing to understand that they are not bringing anything new (this in case they donβt want to compare themselves with the work of others). This might happen with the tendency in our society, and especially in families that respond by saying "excellent job!" to anything that someone does, so as not to hurt their feelings, when in fact they are doing harm by not giving the person the opportunity to realize that whatever it is he did, might not be as good after all. And this all really comes down to the fact that some individuals are simply more talented than others in several ways. That is the reason why we have different professions, like photographers, doctors, architects, developers, painters. And realizing in which skills we are good at and in which ones not so good at, is very important. <div class="pull-left">https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmeNYXr17EM9H9xzeVF7GL8EVPi3XYwTbRUWqN9EzixHC4/image.png <center><i></i></center></div> Some people are born with a natural talent, and are very good at certain things (as happened with historic people or like Picasso or Beethoven). And others are very good at developing skills with which they may not have been born, but for which they are willing to learn quickly and effectively. Almost everyone agrees that not all of us possess the physical capacity of professional athletes, even if we practice every day, which I think is evident with the large number of people who practice sports, and the few who manage to do it on a professional level. Although we are willing to admit the fact there are limits to our physical virtues, there is also a believe that there are no limits to our mental virtues, and although I would like that to be the case, the reality is a bit different. Each one of us is affected by genetic factors that limit the things we can do with our minds, just as we are limited by the degree of malleability of the connections in our brains to be able to adapt to anything. <div class="pull-right">https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPxtGiH1RpbQPUiJRmX8a2KbqfTKQzzQra9diTtAnh5af/image.png <center><i></i></center></div> It is important to recognize that the number of neurons in our brains is not infinite, so the amount of connections we can do is not infinite as well, and that, by logical deduction implies a limit in our individual minds. But if we ask ourselves if our mind can be improved the answer will be a resounding yes, we all do it constantly, otherwise nobody would stop having the intelligence and knowledge of a little kid, but the important thing is to recognize that we are not all wired in the same way, which implies there are people better than others in the developing of certain skills, and it also implies that eventually, no matter how hard we try, there are limits. And what I want to express is the fact that just as many have innate talent for certain things, and others are good at developing talent in some areas, the reality of life is that not everyone has talent for everything they like. or want to do. Or in other words, it is very important that we objectively review ourselves and figure out if we are doing something that can be considered as good. One way to find out is by comparing our work with that of others, and seeing if our work truly approaches a minimum quality standard. Another way is asking people we trust about what they, and letting those people know that we want "the hard truth" and not a pat on the back to tell us that we are on the right track. <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQma3NAFUFDJn8MXzWC9SMQDoqjteRtMZxgZrRop3aGf9qu/image.png</center> However, I think the first thing we have to do, is to try to really pursue our dreams, and try to do the things we like above all else. And only after we do that attempt, is that we must then analyze ourselves and decide if it is time to change course. <div class="pull-left">https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYtJ6HV8MZZsbD1MPzSuyhnk8Bn1MAfmB5mz4hQFNKc9z/image.png <center><i></i></center></div> If we think about it, perhaps one of the best decisions we can make in our lives is to change course and do something different that fills us with pride and pleasure knowing that we do it well. Therefore, we should try to do, above all things, things that make us happy, but at the same time perhaps we could improve our quality of life, and even discover other things that make us happier if we realize that we are better at doing something different from what we are doing nowadays. </div> Images sources [1](https://pixabay.com/en/yoga-outdoor-woman-pose-young-2176668/) , [2](https://pixabay.com/en/question-mark-pile-question-mark-2492009/) , [3](https://pixabay.com/en/watercolor-painter-artists-art-62983/) , [4](https://pixabay.com/en/brain-mind-psychology-idea-hearts-2062057/) , [5](https://pixabay.com/en/puzzle-trust-reliability-certainty-2515123/) , [6](https://pixabay.com/en/face-close-up-eyes-lips-smile-2936245/) <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTPooYCBfsypeC4ZKoYdhmYQ4ijTMa2fA563Z2fwDnJRC/image.png</center> ##### <center>*If these titles sound interesting to you, I assure you the articles will be even better!*</center> <center>https://steemitimages.com/DQmcxXCMmZU2UE5K3ruL8T94Z7z38FUb4xEWctALuUfvhL4/bienlink.png</center> *** <table> <tr> <td><a href="https://steemit.com/freedom/@dedicatedguy/when-defending-our-freedom-there-should-be-no-middle-ground"> <img src="https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTzfXbmWzojJDf5ZjfM31fsWcvnLzwcYWLqZdBqb2xfzP/freedom.jpg"alt="."> <h6>Defending our freedom and no middle ground.</h6> </a> <td><a href="https://steemit.com/anarchy/@dedicatedguy/governments-and-mafia-can-be-pretty-much-the-same"> <img src="https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQURE72JkcJ6G7SvjcmkERasvkjTViV6K15o1bySNaoU6/IMG_6114.jpg" alt="."> <h6> Governments and mafia can be pretty much the same </h6> </a> </td> </td> <td><a href="https://steemit.com/philosophy/@dedicatedguy/thoughts-about-our-mind-being-our-most-valuable-asset"> <img src="https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPf1pCBgQtyFJnwSbHky1EricHCPemtTgkBSFh5RW7Fvc/image.png "alt="."> <h6>"Thoughts about our mind being our most valuable asset."</h6> </a> </td> </tr> </table> *** <center>https://steemitimages.com/DQmPZR3YSsu5SpgTFWV3cj6CHAykepWwARm7P3fG5CoNGAe/final%20banner.JPG</center> <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmdzRUJPEeYqHT5HfECUwrDf2yEZTamBVLa6SnxucU6g7H/image.png</center> <center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmdKHbKc9SQQUvbc6JvxBGiub72yfQ2TtjDMDtR9FfuRVg/promo%20mentor.png</center> ###### <center>As a way of promoting the Steem platform, this article (its link) was shared [on reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/philosophy/comments/8pu070/thoughts_about_the_relevance_of_knowing_our_own/)</center>

Self-evaluation helps in understanding both our strength as well as the weakness but it is not very easy to accept our weakness. We have to always keep exploring and try to do things that amuse us. Nice article @dedicatedguy.

Yes, getting a sense of humbleness is again not easy for everyone right? π That's why I told like that. π<br/><div class="pull-right"><a href="https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@roxane/fast-reply-v0-1-never-miss-to-answer-a-comment-again-and-do-it-faster-than-ever">Sent with Fast-Reply</a></div>

Hello @dedicatedguy You passed vital information through this article. We must know our limits. In other words, one cannot possibly be a jack of all trades because that will make such a person master of none. This fact is scientifically recognized as you succinctly put it thus: >It is important to recognize that the number of neurons in our brains is not infinite, so the amount of connections we can do is not infinite as well, and that, by logical deduction implies a limit in our individual minds. A good read indeed. Regards @eurogee of @euronation and @steemstem communities

People tend to avoid hard conversations, so instead they just lie and tell people what they want to hear. They know that ultimately it isn't the best thing for the person, but that isn't their top concern. They want to make it easier on themselves, not the other person. It takes a really good friend to tell someone that what they've made isn't good enough and that they may be in the wrong field if they ever want to see success. I've come close to losing a few friends over the years from being too honest, however gentle in the presentation of the facts as I saw them. But it also takes a really good friend to be able to stay in relationship when people are telling you things you don't want to hear, even when so many others are blowing smoke up your $*#.

> People tend to avoid hard conversations, so instead they just lie and tell people what they want to hear Yes, and it is totally understandable, but it is also important for us to know the truth even if it might be a little bit ugly. > They want to make it easier on themselves, not the other person Absolutely agree with this, hence the importance of surrounding ourselves with honest people willing to go with the truth no matter what. There is also the confidence factor, maybe people is not willing to say something that might be discouraging to people they don't have enough confidence with. Thanks for stopping by @indigoocean!

If I may; what I have learnt is that once you have found the roots of your talents, to grow from there! By developing your talents in tandem with what you love to do, not only frees you up from the slave trade (office hours), but also from restrictional thinking! We started The Papillon Foundation with like minded volunteers that love to help others 17 years ago and our successes knows no bounds, not even the lack of financial support has limited us! You certainly have a great post here! Blessings and upvoted! @dedicatedguy

Thank you for the kind words and the invitation @dedicatedguy. Just a piece of mind from this side of the world. We get many invitations to join this and that! We even had two political parties approach us to join either with great promises, but we resisted! Why? Simply because we have the goods on the table and the prospective partners came to the table with nothing, but a desire to claim our credits! Can you believe that we supplied lunch to 120 Aids information volunteers from government with the promise of payment and in the end (when the project ended) we got not even 1 cent. This and other promises has taught us to tread very carefully. Trust is very difficult to build in the communities and it takes long hours of sweat and sacrifice to build a reputable name. This trust however can be erased by one single erroneous move. Sorry for the long scribe, but I felt compelled to share it! Blessings!

>However, I think the first thing we have to do, is to try to really pursue our dreams This is the best thing we can do actually. When we do what we love and enjoy, we thrive in it and do not see at as work anymore but as personal growth in that area, we feel useful and satisfied. We all have a talent for something, just have to find it and start playing with it. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful post with us. π
