#### Project Details

> Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser... Node.js allows the creation of Web servers and networking tools using JavaScript and a collection of "modules" that handle various core functionality... Node.js represents a "JavaScript everywhere" paradigm, unifying web application development around a single programming language, rather than different languages for server side and client side scripts. | [Source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Node.js)

In simple words, this project brings value to the open source community because it facilitates the creation of all sort of applications using JavaScript, and provides a lot of help and versatility to developers, so much so that well-known companies like Netflix, Paypal, and Uber (among many others) use Node for their online services.

Since Node.js is very easy to learn and it provides a lot of benefits for developers, there is a huge community of people involved with it, which is one of the reasons why this project is available to be translated into several languages (in crowdin, one of the best translation platforms in the web, this project is available to be translated into 33 different languages, Spanish being the one corresponding to this contribution), the ultimate goal in translating Node.js is to make it easier for developers from any country to start learning about this project in their own native language.

If you want to know more about Node.js feel free to visit its [website.](https://nodejs.org/en/)

#### Contribution Specifications

- Translation Overview

This is my #38 contribution to Node.js, after finishing this contribution the project is 34% completed, this means that since my previous contribution the Spanish team translated a new 1% of the entire project.

The folder I have been working is CHANGELOG_V6.md, and 24% of its words and strings are yet to be translated. In total, this folder has 42498 words, and I have translated 32629, so there are about 10000 words left before completing this folder.

The content inside this folder is related to the changes that were applied to Node.js V6, there are a lot of different versions, we can see all of them in the following picture:

<center>https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYzSTT2gKP1T7iSinZRnjJf6ybcEhcMUqYwCXjw9ayQwb/image.png</center>

That is basically how the folder is divided, and for each version, there are also several sections (title, introductory paragraphs, notable changes, commits), these can vary depending on the version because not every one of them is the same, but the section that is always there is the commits section. This is probably the most important part of this folder because here is where people can find the specific instructions regarding the changes that must be applied to Node.js in order to improve its performance, or improve its documentation, besides, this section is always the one with the most strings.

In this contribution, I translated strings from version 6.4.0 and 6.3.1, both of these versions have notable changes, but none of them have any introductory paragraphs.

The majority of the strings I translated for this contribution were short instructions with orders related to editing documents, fixing typos, enable certain options, fixing some technical issues that could affect the performance of the software, among other similar instructions.

When translating this type of string, it is very important to have knowledge about technical terms because it is not a surprise to encounter some of them, and the same happens with abbreviations. This is why it is necessary to take the time a do a proper research about the meaning of a particular term in case it is not very well known.

Below I added a few examples of this type of string, as well as the Spanish translation:

English

> fix addMembership documentation

Spanish

> corregir documentación de addMembership

***

English

> add bartosz sosnowski to colaborators

Spanish

> añadir a bartosz sosnowski a colaboradores

***

English

> add --enable-d8 configure option

Spanish

> añadir opción de configuración de --enable-d8

***

When working on this contribution I was able to learn the following concept:

**Hard code**: every software always has information that should not be modified so the program can run without suffering from any issue, this information that can’t be easily modified is known as hard code, and it always refers to very basic elements, which is why the only way to modify this data is by changing the source code of the software. These modifications are usually very challenging for developers, however, the very best of them might probably be skilled enough to do it like this:

[Text Source](https://www.techopedia.com/definition/16934/hardcode)

In the previous contributions, I included the definition of these terms: deprecation, I/O - input/output, callback, asynchrony, POSIX, parsing, path, wildcard, wrapper function, stack trace, floating point value, error-first callbacks, transpilation tool, root certificate, little-endian, DNS rebinding, same-origin-policy, keep-alive behavior, stringification, arrow function, salt (cryptography), semver, lint, fixtures modules, newline, backporting, shell command, ES6 Classes , code refactoring, segfault, tarball, benchmark, type-check, deflate, char, aix, spawn, rehash, noop, rebasing, continuous integration, linkify, segfaults, IPC, libuv, toolchain, punycode, symlink, base64, interprocess communication (IPC), application binary interface (ABI), read–Eval–Print Loop (REPL), advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX), GYP, Opaque binary blob (obb), symbolic link, destructuring, dotfiles, transport layer security (tls), realpath function, watchdog, continuous integration, smoke test, hotfix, data execution prevention (DEP), try/catch blocks, off-by-one error, carriage return, and ESLint.

Hi @dedicatedguy,

Hurray! This is 38th contribution to Node.js.

- This is a very interesting project that contains many code values and terms related to computer science. Its difficulty relies on the fact that we must pay a lot of attention to the code in order to deliver the most accurate translation possible.

- Your presentation post follows all the general guidelines, it is well written and formatted. Thank you for sharing an useful concept you learned while working on this contribution, kudos for also adding your personal touch to the report :)

- You did a very good job with your translation. The vocabulary you used is correct and you were also careful with code values that should not be translated. Despite being a project mainly destined for programmers you have adapted to the terminology very quickly.

I'm looking forward to your next contribution.
