Już w czwartek rano oficjalnie zakończyłem swój pobyt w sanatorium. Jeszcze przez dwa dni grałem w karty i wylegiwałem się na plaży z moimi ulubionymi seniorkami. W piątek wieczorem ruszyłem na zachód, 31-ego muszę znaleźć się w Międzyzdrojach, mam więc tydzień aby uskuteczniać mój ulubiony chyba tryb podróżowania. W tej chwili siedzę w kawiarni na obrzeżach Kołobrzegu, ładuję laptopa, ściągam "na potem" filmy z popularnej scentralizowanej platformy z wideo i popełniam ten wpis.

Jak wrażenia po sanatorium? Czułem się nieco jak na przydługim festiwalu dla seniorów. Już na drugiej potańcówce straciłem swoje disco-polowe dziewictwo, ale przez ostatni tydzień nie byłem w stanie wykrzesać z siebie ani odrobiny zabawy. Nie jestem w stanie spożyć ilości alkoholu wymaganej do bawienia się do tych samych 50-ciu utworów przez 3 tygodnie. Jestem natomiast pod olbrzymim wrażeniem chyżości i skoczności części kuracjuszy. Niekiedy nie byłem w stanie dotrzymać kroku i robiłem sobie przerwy. Drogie panie, ja mam swoje lata, muszę chwilę odpocząć - żartowałem wtedy. W odpowiedzi słyszałem, że tańce to kolejny zabieg i bardzo ważna część procesu terapeutycznego. Ponoć mamy bardzo mało czasu i trzeba go w pełni wykorzystać. Że niby mam więcej? To złudzenie.

Repertuar obejmował muzykę biesiadno-cygańsko-góralską, disco-polo, hity lat 70-tych i 80-tych. Niekiedy pojawiały się współczesne aranżacje podszyte skocznym basem. Wodzirej ma 23 lata doświadczenia (!) w graniu w sanatoriach i doskonale wie co się sprawdza i do czego ludzie się najlepiej bawią. Nie zamierzałem kwestionować takiej ekspertyzy, częściej wybierałem zaszycie się przed laptopem lub (chętniej) grę naprzemiennie w kości i karty.

Mam wrażenie, że większość ludzi których poznałem podczas mojego pobytu traktowała mnie jako ciekawostkę (a czemu nie jesz mięsa? a ile masz lat? a w ile układasz kostkę Rubika?) lub syna, którym trochę trzeba się zaopiekować, trochę pokierować. Rzadziej czułem się jak z kolegami/koleżankami, to zrozumiałem, natomiast te chwile cenię sobie najbardziej. Na pytania starałem się odpowiadać z grzecznością, tego co mieli do powiedzenia bardziej doświadczeni współtowarzysze ludzkiej podróży słuchałem z cierpliwością. Najprzyjemniej spędzało mi się czas z ludźmi, którzy starali się w jakiś sposób pielęgnować w sobie młodość, miałem taki pomysł, że mogą mieć oni najciekawszą perspektywę na życie. W praktyce spotykałem młodych ludzi w pomarszczonych mięsnych skafandrach (meatsuit) i z latami doświadczeń, niekiedy bolesnych i trudnych.

Nie ma chyba jednego przepisu na zachowanie młodości. Uniwersalne wydaje się porzucenie walki ze starością. Ciało będzie coraz wolniejsze. Ciało coraz mniej będzie wpisywać się w standardy piękna. Nie da się temu zaprzeczać, a ci, którzy próbują skazani są prędzej czy później na karykaturalność. Zatroszczyć trzeba się o ducha. Ten ponoć zdrowy w zdrowym ciele. Niezbędny jest więc ruch. Spotkałem się z metodami tak radykalnymi jak codzienne przebieżki o piątej rano, nawet w sztorm. Zapomnieć trzeba też o społecznych normach zachowania związanych z wiekiem, nawet jeśli ma to być skok ze spadochronem w tajemnicy przed rodziną, trzeba po prostu robić to, na co ma się ochotę. 

Bardzo ważna jest więc zabawa. Jeden z moich sanatoryjnych kolegów kocha tańczyć i jest w tym bardzo dobry, znalazł sposób, żeby do sanatorium jeździć co roku, do emerytury ma jeszcze parę lat, a problemy z kolanem są coraz poważniejsze. Żeby potańczyć trochę dłużej podjechać autem 800m lub jechać windą w dół z drugiego piętra. Zawsze to kilkadziesiąt kroków więcej na parkiecie.

Poczucie humoru, wdzięczność, ciekawość świata i drugiego człowieka. Lubiłem pytać ludzi czy są zadowoleni ze swojego pobytu i wśród bardzo różnych opinii najbardziej spodobała mi się odpowiedź Bożeny. 
>Dają mi jeść, mam gdzie spać, zajmują się moim zdrowiem i to wszystko za pół darmo, co mogłoby mi się nie podobać? Jest super. 

Bardzo fajna postawa w kontraście do osób zawsze potrafiących znaleźć powód do ponarzekania. Ta sama Bożena miała niesamowitą zdolność do chichrania się bez powodu czym absolutnie mnie ujęła. Zaraz po tym jak się poznaliśmy poczęstowała mnie sokiem z buraka, do dziś nie jestem pewien, czy czegoś tam nie dosypała. Inna koleżanka, z którą spędziłem dużo czasu sypała żartami jak z rękawa, często w najmniej oczekiwanych momentach, była w tym naprawdę dobra. 

W przerwach między posiłkami i zabiegami był czas na zwiedzanie okolicznych atrakcji. Połaziłem po plaży w Łazach, zaliczyłem rejs po 17-tym największym jeziorze w Polsce, mniej ciekawa była wizyta w muzeum bursztynu, bardziej za to wycieczka do megalitycznego cmentarzyska sprzed 5000 tysięcy lat. We wsi Borkowo znajduje się jedyny neolityczny grobowiec komorowy na terytorium Polski. Jeśli nie interesuje Cię temat megalitów to stanowczo odradzam tę atrakcję, to tylko sterta głazów. Na mnie osobiście robi wrażenie już sam fakt, że coś ostało się przez tyle lat, że byli tu kiedyś ludzie i te kamienie były dla nich ważne. Na tyle ważne, żeby włożyć naprawdę sporo sił i pomysłowości w ruszenie parotonowych skał.

Ośrodek co prawda organizował wycieczki, wolałem jednak organizować je sobie na własną rękę. Alternatywą było parę godzin ganiania za przewodnikiem po Kołobrzegu. Okazuje się, że poza gwarem nadmorskich miejscowości w letnim sezonie województwo zachodniopomorskie wydaje się puste. Wystarczy też oddalić się parę kilometrów od brzegu, aby zobaczyć jak wiele zmieniają pieniądze turystów. Kilkunastokilometrowe odległości między wsiami, rozległe krajobrazy i wielkie lasy pozwalają odetchnąć i mają swój urok, szczególnie dla człowieka po chowie klatkowym w konurbacji śląskiej.

On Thursday morning, I officially concluded my stay at the sanatorium. For the next two days, I played cards and lounged on the beach with my favorite seniors. On Friday evening, I headed west; I need to be in Międzyzdroje by the 31st, so I have a week to carry out my favorite mode of traveling, I suppose. At this moment, I'm sitting in a café on the outskirts of Kołobrzeg, charging my laptop, downloading videos from a popular centralized video platform for later, and writing this post.

How do I feel after the sanatorium? Through all my stay I felt somewhat like I was at an extended festival for seniors. By the second dance evening, I had lost my disco-polo virginity, but over the last week, I wasn't able to summon even a bit of fun. I can't consume the amount of alcohol required to dance to the same 50 songs for three weeks. However, I'm incredibly impressed by the agility and liveliness of some of the resort guests. There were times when I couldn't keep up and had to take breaks. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have my years; I need a moment to rest," I joked back then. In response, I heard that dancing is another treatment and a crucial part of the therapeutic process. They said we have very little time and need to make the most of it. Do I have more time? That's just an illusion.

The repertoire included folk-gypsy-highlander music, disco-polo, hits from the '70s and '80s. Occasionally, contemporary arrangements with lively bass lines appeared. The entertainer has 23 years of experience (!) performing at sanatoriums and knows exactly what works and what people enjoy the most. I had no intention of questioning such expertise; often I've chosen to retreat to my laptop or (more willingly) play dice and cards alternately.

I have the impression that most of the people I met during my stay treated me as a curiosity (why don't you eat meat? how old are you? how fast can you solve a Rubik's cube?) or as a son who needs some care and guidance. Less frequently did I feel like I was with friends, I understood that, but those moments are what I cherish the most. I tried to answer questions politely, and I listened patiently to what more experienced companions had to say. I enjoyed spending time with people who tried to nurture their youthfulness in some way; I had the idea that they might have the most interesting perspective on life. In practice, I encountered young people in wrinkled "meatsuits" with years of experience, sometimes painful and challenging. I hope I was able to gather some wisdom during these interactions.

There's probably no single recipe for preserving youth. One seemingly universal approach is to stop fighting against aging. The body will become slower over time. The body will increasingly deviate from beauty standards. This cannot be denied, and those who try are sooner or later doomed to caricature. It's necessary to care for the spirit. They say it's healthy spirit in a healthy body. Therefore, movement is essential. I came across methods as radical as daily morning runs, even in storms. You also need to forget about societal norms related to age; even if it means skydiving in secret from your family, you just have to do what you want.

So, having fun is very important. One of my sanatorium friends loves to dance and is very good at it. He found a way to come to the sanatorium every year; he still has a few years until retirement, and his knee problems are getting worse. To dance a bit longer, he drives his car 800 meters or takes the elevator down from the second floor. It's always a few dozen more steps on the dance floor.

Sense of humor, gratitude, curiosity about the world and other people seems to be veryy important too. I liked asking people if they were satisfied with their stay, and among a variety of opinions, Bożena's response appealed to me the most. 
>They give me food, I have a place to sleep, they take care of my health, and all of this almost for free—what could I not like? It's great. 

A very positive attitude in contrast to those who always manage to find something to complain about. The same Bożena had an incredible ability to chuckle for no reason, which absolutely charmed me. Right after we met, she offered me beetroot juice; to this day, I'm not sure if she didn't add something extra to it. Another friend I spent a lot of time with had a knack for cracking jokes, often in the least expected moments; she was really good at it.

During breaks between meals and treatments, there was time for exploring local attractions. I wandered along the beach in Łazy, went on a cruise on the 17th largest lake in Poland, although a visit to the amber museum was less interesting, a trip to the megalithic cemetery dating back 5,000 years was much more captivating. In the village of Borkowo, there's the only Neolithic chamber tomb in Poland. If you're not interested in megaliths, I strongly discourage this attraction; it's just a pile of stones. Personally, what impresses me is the mere fact that something has endured for so many years, that people were once here and these stones were important to them. Important enough to put a lot of effort and creativity into moving these massive rocks.

The resort did indeed organize excursions, but I preferred arranging them on my own. An alternative was to spend a few hours chasing after a guide in Kołobrzeg. It turns out that beyond the hustle and bustle of seaside towns during the summer season, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship seems empty. Just a few kilometers away from the coast, you can see how much the tourists' money changes roads and buildings' facades. Distances of a dozen or so kilometers between villages, expansive natural landscapes, and vast forests allow you to breathe and have their charm, especially for someone who's been living in the confined spaces of the Silesian conurbation.
