I guess for this to happen exactly what you're talking about, some networks outside of Ethereum need to fully support and initiate this kind of open stuff.

Server owners can set their own rules. Always best to check what those rules are when deciding where to create an account. I know someone else was told off for promoting Hive. Some FOSS people are very anti-crypto, but probably don't even know what Hive is.

It's not just that server owners can set their own rules, they have absolute power within their domains. They can refuse to let you migrate your account, and technically they can even alter your account history.

Edit: corrected, they cannot alter your messages but they can alter your account history and read your private messages and collect data on you.
