<html> <p>I suppose I should be happy, because recent events around here suggest that winter is leaving us, and spring is almost here.</p> <p>When I came to work this morning, it was a beautiful sunny spring day, here in Western Washington. </p> <p>Then I poked my nose outside to go get some lunch--<em> I'm working at our art gallery today</em>-- and I was greeted by <em>this</em>:</p> <p><img src="https://i.imgsafe.org/df2ea7e6d0.jpg" width="1000" height="635"/></p> <p>Heavy clouds, and almost a blizzard out there! In fact, it got thicker than this, in a matter of minutes, and the snow started to stay on the cars and the grass. </p> <p>Looking across the street, it did not look <em>at all</em> like anything but we are going right back to wintertime!</p> <p><img src="https://i.imgsafe.org/df2ec7dc2b.jpg" width="1000" height="678"/></p> <p>I snapped a couple of photos because I also wanted to share a little from the town we live in. Since we're trying to build community here on Steemit, I like the idea of us becoming more <em>human</em> to each other!</p> <p>Then, <em>no more than ten minutes</em> later, I went to take a bag of garbage out to the main container, and guess what? Port Townsend is such a nice place! I really enjoy the Wooden Boat Festival in the fall. And the views are so great, from most anywhere, lol. We had snow in the Willamette Valley today, but all our bits of blue sky were just the usual "sucker holes" that lure us out, only to let loose with rain (and snow) a few minutes later, lol. Stay warm and dry!

Yeah, we love it here... this has been home for about 11 years now. Wooden Boat is great; we have a great steampunk festival in June-- it's a cool town.

It has just been nuts this winter. Port Townsend typically gets one measurable snowfall per winter season-- Thanksgiving through March. This year, we have so far had snow on the ground SEVEN times, just since January 1st. We've also had several days in the 60's. *"Global Warming,"* anyone?

Global warming, indeed. It will be interesting to track the studies that will eventually come out, about the weather this winter. The low Arctic ice cover this winter sure allowed a lot of heat and moisture into the lower atmosphere, bringing parts of the region more of a maritime climate than Arctic. But meteorologists will have to do a lot of analysis to see how all the pieces really tie together and what it might mean for future winters.
