This morning I woke up to a dense fog outside. 

It was slightly odd, and slightly disorienting. For one, because today marked the first day of Spring... and it looked very wintry out there. For two, because dense morning fogs are usually something we don't see till May and June, around these parts.

## *The Symbology of the Fog*

And tomorrow morning — most likely before I even get up and have my first cup of coffee — what one was the Steemit community (and later the "Steem" community) to a large degree will migrate to a new home called **[Hive.io](https://hive.io/).**

It's a great adventure, in a sense... but as holds true with the fog, we can't really see what's there. All we really have is our hopes and dreams for something better.

What will we create?
Will we build our Shangri-La?
Will life in the Hive we different?
Will we show the world what a decentralized community *CAN* be?

These are unseens; unknowns. We do this on faith and hope, because the *present reality* has become untenable.

## *Global Uncertainty...*

I have always enjoyed the saying *"Life is uncertain, eat dessert first!"*

Life *IS* uncertain, and these days nothing could be more true than that. Here we are, sitting in various forms of quarantines and isolation — some mandated, some voluntary — unsure of exactly *what* this COVID-19 illness will do. 

It seems like that — even if we manage to *"flatten the curve"* — this thing will be a material part of our reality for many months to come. Even if an effective antidote is found, it seems unlikely that we will return to *"normal."* More likely, we will reach some point where a *new* normal takes over.

And so, this morning's fog also seemed oddly representative of life in the greater world: It has become really difficult to see what's actually happening, anymore.

## *Settling In, For the Duration...*

Whenever I got involved with something, I tend to stick with it to the bitter end.

But now I find myself writing this potentially *"last column"* in the world of Steemlandia. Tomorrow, a new adventure awaits.

At times, it has been fun here. At times, it has been frustrating. But isn't that pretty much how it is with *all* families? Either way, *THANK YOU* to everyone who was part of the first part of the adventure!

I'll see you on the other side.
