Reflection: On Being at Peace With Where You Are
Without a doubt, life almost inevitably throws us *"curve balls."*

We believe life is pretty much going in some direction we're more or less in alignment with... and then, suddenly everything *changes.*

I expect a lot of people were pretty content to be going about their daily thing last week, before the financial and crypto markets suddenly fell off a cliff.

A couple of weeks ago, I was pretty content that it was *finally* starting to feel a lot like spring — after a very long winter — and we started working in the garden.

This morning, following a rather stormy night, there was actually *five inches* of new snow on the hills across the bay from us. We have tomatoes, sugar peas and strawberries in bloom... and they are now shaking in their little booties.

Meanwhile, our modest *"nest egg"* has shrunk to *one third* of what it was, just one month ago.

I once read a quote that went something like *"Worry is like making advance payments on a loan that might never come due,"* or something like that.

Point being that we really have no control over most of the greater *"environmental"* things that happen around us... the only thing we get to control is *how we respond* to them.

What do you do, after a storm, or an earthquake, or a fire?

Most likely, you *don't* spend the next six months, or year, or longer... running around in circles, lamenting how much of your stuff was lost. Most likely, you cry a few tears, shake it off... and get down to the business of rebuilding.

In order to do *that,* you pretty much have to make peace with yourself, and where you are in the world. And please understand that this statement is *not* the same as saying you're indifferent and no longer care about making changes! It simply suggests that you embark on making those changes from a place of peace, rather than a reactionary state of angry rage.

It *also* doesn't mean resigning yourself to helplessness!

I say all this because I have come to recognize that I get less and less worked up over things I just don't have any control over. Like... the price of Bitcoin, or the weather. Or who's going to buy my artwork... or not. I can take things in the direction I hope for them to go... but other than that? Just let go of the need that something *"must"* do this or that.

It's really very peaceful...

Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your week!

In Afrikaans we say: "byt vas", I suppose it means, just grind on your teeth and hold on. The crypto situation is a shocker, but it will pass.
I wanted to sell some Hive and it was .78c and I thought it was too low, 2 days later .48. I actually needed that money, but now just have to wait.
It's difficult, I try not to worry about the things I cannot change.
Blessings.
